Default home depo rocks!

so i bought a Lincoln 3200 hd weld pack (welder, gas reg, MiG+ flux wire, cart) about 7 mo ago and was just using flux core wire on my '88 Monty Carlo ss for general welding and around the house use. a buddy needed some body panels welded, so i figure it's about time i buy some gas. $130 later and i got a tank and some 70/30 argon/co2. get home, plug in the reg, open the tank...HISS! ****, regs leaking. it doesn't matter what l/min i have it on, it leaks from behind the flow adjuster ****. i looked around my room and of course i could not find the receipt. so i call home depo where i bought it, and they're like "ya just bring it in and we'll take a look".
So i pack it all up and take it in, and talk to the service counter where they give me a dumb look as if i didn't just call them. anyways, they look at the unit, then at me, and say "well...just go and get a new one off the shelf". so i do. a brand new $500 unit. i go back up to the counter and without even testing the old one they say "have a nice day!". and i did. with my brand new welder. with no receipt, not even a i.d./purchase check. could of bought it anywhere.

The contractors call it the free rental plan.Buy the tool for an odd job and return it when the job is done.

Exactly

grndcont: I looked at your profile and expected to see this type of behavior out of maybe an 18 year old, not a 28 year old. Which by the way isn't right no matter what age you are.

Come on guys, would you want someone to take advantage of you?

now hold on...i did originally buy this welder from that home depo, i was just bringing up the weird exchange i had which did not included any proof of purchase from the store. you would think this day in age people would be less trust worthy. hence the title of the post "home depo rocks".

on the customer service. From a business standpoint that is pretty awesome. Customer service sells most products anyway.

Thats awesome you got your welder replaced though.

exactly, there are not many places left who honer a warranty anymore. most of my encounters end up with " you have to send it to the manufacture yourself" which is still a " warranty" but who wants to wait!
