Pulling cel codes on 91 honda accord lx
I have been trying to figure out how to pull the codes on my wifes 91 honda acord lx. i pulled the carpet up on the passenger side. thought i could just turn the ignition til the dashboard lit up and it would flash pictures on the ecu under the carpet. i dident see any light like on some peoples. so then i tried to find the blue or grey wire to jump it and see if i could get them that way. there is nothing like that under the dashboard on pasenger side.
Do i have to unbolt the bolts on the metal plate under the carpet on the passenger floorboard to get to the flashing light? im very lost pls shed some light on this for me pls.
And yes i read every thread i could on this site about pulling codes i just cant find figure it out so pls tune in if u have any info on what i may be doing wrong. i would really appreciate it.

the diagnostic port is under the DASH not the carpet on the right hand side of the dash. you dont need to pull the carpet, nor remove the computers protective cover. If you jump the 2 pin connector, the check engine light in the cluster will bling out a code. Fast blinks first, long pause, long blinks. Count both, and you'll get a number like 8-3. Thats 8 fast blinks, 3 long blinks. Take this number and look it up a service manual for your vehicle. If it can wait till monday, I have my Mac Mentor at work, and it has all the codes stored in it, so I could tell you if you give me the code.
i looked everywhere under the dash pulled carpet looked next to the door inbetween the plastic panel that carpet slips under!
it should be a wire with a prong on the end i can stick a paper clip in correct? i cannot find anything that even resembles this. unless its inside the dashboard its not there. i looked for like 45 minutes. even took the plastic cover off the damn floor fan.
where exactly should this be? under the dash inside the plastic paneling between dash and carpet or what?
i hope i dont sound retarded but i cannot find it for **** thnks for the help i do appreciate it tho.

Well i went out there and its not behind that panel eather. where and how do i use the machines u can buy to pull codes? obd0 is what the car is. can u ever get the machines to pull the codes that are this old?
?
?
its simple man..theres a blue 2 pin connector under the dash its right behind a big orange connector all you do is pull it out and put a paperclip in each end of it and turn the igntion and your CEL will flash a series of codes..it should be long flashes and then short flashes...long flashes=10 and short ones =1 add them up and youve got your code

i dont think some of u r listening. i know how to get the codes and add up the flashes etc. i cannot find the damn wire to stick a paper clip into. ill look more tommorrow. the damn check engine lights red and i need to checkout the wifes car. thats why im trying to find it. i understand its a wire. is the damn thing normally hanging? attached to a plug with other wires or what? the pictures ive seen it is hanging. and theres tons of blue wires under the dashboard id think pulling them and sticking paperclips into them would be a dumbass idea.
if anyone can show a picture would be awesome. cause mine is not just dangling there like the pics i see. trust me im not as dumb as i may sound at times the frikken things not there and if it is its not hanging it has to be connected to something.

the pictures you see when its dangling is because thats after they have disconnected it..there is only ONE 2 prong blue connector i think there is a 4 or so prong blue connector beside it..pull the small one..and what do you mean your CEL is red?...CELS are orange not red are you talking about our maintence light?
yes maintenance and thnks for clarifying. sry ive been up since 6am. i appreciate all your help to all of u who have helped me on here and ill check this baby out tommorrow.
ill get back with what codes i pulled i have a list of what codes are what but just incase i get something that stumps me maybe you pros can kick some knowledge to a noob

ok if its the little maintence light that goes from green to yellow to red...thats just to remind you of regular maintenence...just put your key in the little slot beside it and its gone
ive had long days like that before to...but if your talking about the orange light that has the engine and says check..then you will still need to pull the code.
