hey wats goin on. i have a 99 si i put a b17 bottome end with a b16 head in. there fuel theres spark its cranking over but not running. timing belt is good spark plugs are good distirubutor is good. i cant figure out wat it is. its even backfiring /popping alil from the tail pipe. i went over all the grounds and connectors. i used 2 different ecus. nad it still wont turn fully on. does anyone have any ideas i know its a hard problem to solve over the computer but any ideas would be appreciated

 

Ignition coil maybe? sounds like the same problem i had...bust out the multimeter and check it for power

 

make sure all of your plugs are correct and timing is right. double check everything again.

 

yea i agree with bmoua sounds like a firing order if off

 

also the car has been off the road for 7 months so i was thinking maybe the gas is bad or somethingi left alil more than half a tank. i also put 2 things of dry gas in it. i dont know if any of that matters

i know it sounds like timing but ijust got my motor totallyrebulit and the machine shop put the timing belt and all that on and timed it and everything so could that mean its just the distibutor timing? and also the distributor only goes in 1 way correct? o and also my battery is kinda dead from not being used so i had iton the charger while i was trying to start the car could that be a cause

 

if its throwing bombs from the exhaust you might want to check you injectors.. happen to me and i was because my injectors where not working are you getting any codes?

 

distributor only goes in one way...but if you force it in it will go in wrong...it should just slide right in like butter

 

ok the firing order is correctandi cracked the 3 bolts n had my dad move while i was cranking it and it didnt do anything. could mt battery being dead be a cause and wat else should i check? how can i check to see if the fuel injectorsare definitely working cuz i smel gas while im cranking but idk any other thoughts

 

ok well i figured it out. the machine shop that built my motor screwed up the cams are both 180 degrees out. so ima call thme and they better fix it or do something. but since i was cranking it over with them that farout do you think i could have bent a valve or didany internal damage?

 

ok i got the car running it wasnt the timing. it was the firing order the book says its supposed to be 1234 buti called the machine shopand he said its 1243 i switched them around and it fired up. but its shaking like crazy now and the tps sensor is leaking from around were it mounts to the throttlebody i got a new o-ring and its still leaking. but im not throwing any cels so could it be shaking cuz of tha vaccum leak or is there something else i should look for
