How happy are you with your 7th Gen Civic?
I've owned 5 Civics, current/past, and love them. However my Accord has never reached a place where I couldn't live without it. I wish I never would have sold my 93 Civic. It got replaced with a 92 Accord.
So I'm ready to trade the Accord way. I've been looking at the 03 Civic. I want the 01-03 front with the 03-05 rear....so 2003 it is, makes it a bit easier to locate opposed looking for a whole Gen of 01-05.
I'm going for a 2003 Civic LX Sedan. It will need to be an automatic, have power everything, AC, and less than 40k.
So Like the title said, how happy are you guys with the 7th Gen?
I've been looking at after market support, and don't see what you see with every other Gen of Civics. Especially for the Sedan. This is not the priority of the car though. More so based on I still see way more 4th/5th/6th Gens on the road. And when I do see 7th Gens, you don't see the techs heads in them.
What are some of your highs and lows to them?...Blind spots, road noise, body integrity, handling, braking, etc.?
Are they as easy to work on as the 4th/5th/6th Gen Civics?...as far as routine maintenance?

I would say build quality isn't quite as good as older Honda's (fit and finish in the interior mostly), but it's still a great vehicle.
My coupe has a nasty blind spot in the 1/4 panel but thats expected with a 2-door, but that doesn't pertain to you.
I have 41K and everything is still drum tight, no rattling or anything unusual.
Engine is easy to work on.
Brake performance sucks but that's usually the case with most Honda's. The pedal feel is pretty good though.
Overall 8.75/10 so far.

Of the few Honda's that I've own, I'd say that my 7th gen. is an average Honda production. It's not over the top in quality, like say a TL or better car is, but then again, you're not paying for something of that caliber. If you were to pinpoint the flaws and filter them to those that actually pertain to me, I only see drawbacks in the drivetrain, in terms of hp/tq (which is to be expected for an Economy car) and the new addition of McPherson's for the front wheels, in replacement of the prior double wishbone. Both of these points aren't truly bothersome, because there's plenty of options to overcome them without spending an absurd amount of money.
I'd say my EM2 rates an 8/10, respectively.

My only downfall for my 7thgen is the lack of power, but this is had with any stock civic. an automatic will totally hinder your performance as well. If u can live with a GUTLESS car then u will be fine.
do to lack of aftermarket support i give my 7thgen a 7.5/10

i vote for could be replace.........yeah i love it to a point, gas saver, but i need more power, yes why dont you put a k or turbo......, well not me......i love honda/acuras, i plan on getting a 5 gen prelude or a acura gs-r or a rsx type-s soon in about to an one to two years, hey might even get a new si, its my first car so i have to love it, but can be replace
i do have love for my car, and turbo d ftw and all...but my car will soon be replaced with a new love...(not that im getting rid of the em2 at all, but just getting another car that will get most of my attention)

no drum brakes, no double wishbone suspension, plastic IM, and little aftermarket support.
but 10/10 for doing what its meant to do. get you from point A to point B safely, using very little gas, and cheap car while retaining its value

I love the looks of the car.
The only downsides to my particular 7g are that there is an annoying rattle somewhere towards the back of the interior and the transmission is trash.
I'm also not happy with the rear drums, or the suspension, as it doesn't seem to sit evenly front and back, no matter what springs I've used.
And, like others said, lack of aftermarket support.
So, all in all, once I've k-swapped it, done the rear disc conversion, and gotten a set of full coilovers, I'll probably love the car.
Rated as a completely bone stock car, I give it a 6/10.

Why I Love my CIVIC?
Well, the resale value. See I have a 2001 civic, a ferio which manufactured in 2000 but if i'm going to sell it I can still make a good bargain on it, why because it's honda a quality car as the motto say's "the power of dreams"

i give mine a 6 out of 10...i've had quite a few problems with mine.motor & tranny mount, blown headgasket, air filter box broke, new coils and spark plugs by 70k...its always something with it.but she doesnt do me that bad but will be replaced by a G35 soon
hmmm well the car was made for economic purposes. and im not gonna lie.. it does a pretty good job of doin it.. but aftermarket wise.... ehh not so great... but i mean i love the em2 design cuz its sleek and sporty looking. just not a great car for aftermarket purposes.. but i give mine an 8 out of 10.. but its gonna get replaced by an 8th gen si 4 door =]
damn... thats intense lol i survived my ej8 accident when some drunk ****** hit the back of my car when i was goin 55 and hit a suv just as it turned out.. and the dude kept givin it gas when he hit my car so it sped up and i was on the brakes. the speedo was stuck on 75 mph and the suv was just turnin out so it was doin like 10 or 15
i used to hate my car until i started to put some time and money into my suspension and now i love it. i think the suspension/brakes/engine and tranny are the week points. but if you upgrade the 1st too i dont think the lack of power will bother you as much.

Doing the timing belt on a D-series engine is pathetically easy. I've done several and it is no big deal.

sweet, now I'm showing my ignorance... how is it any different on a 7th gen? they're same basic head and block, yes? I mean duh they are .1 liter more displacement, but the overall design is the same.

The motor is fundamentally the same, but getting to everything is 10 times harder.
The wiring harness for the distributorless ignition isn't modular in that section above the valve cover, the airbox has to come out, the PS pump and alternator have to be set aside, and AC pipes have to be manipulated. The lack of room is also a minor issue.
