Put a fuse holder within 18 inches of the battery. Put it on the positive side.

Secure the battery. Don't just let it chill in the trunk like that.

An Optima would suit your needs just fine.

my optima is 720 CCA which is plenty i have a red top but you should get the yellow top you can get them in the small battery!

also use ATLEAST a 4AWG wire but i would recomend somethig bigger like a 1-0AWG wire!

i am not sure what wire gauge it is but i am sure its more than plenty thanks

4 gauge wire is fine.

The fuse is to protect the vehicle in case of an accident.

If you get side swiped, the wire may get pinched. The fuse will blow in the back to prevent a fire.

So, make sure the fuse is within 18 inches of the positive side of the battery.

Make sure to use a rubber grommet when going through the fire wall. If the wire gets frayed or damaged, it will short out.

and when you get a batter when it says for instance 720 "CCA"

the CCA is cold cranking amps thats what battery power is rated at

if you look for around 700 CCA it should be great for the car

more CCA wont do any harm but not enough it wont start

It should say right on the wire what gauge it is...
Looks like the same stuff I had/have. I am in the middle of doing this same thing. I just bought my fuse and everything. Have yet to install it all though.

That wire is way too small. I'm using a stock sized CRX battery near my rear wheel well and the car starts up fine. I have enough wire in there to put it in the trunk; 4 gauge amp wire.

I concur I think the wire is too small, Im using 4 ga amp wire which conducts much better than 4ga battery wire. I am also using the small pc680 battery so it must be too much resistance in that wire.

Car audio wire very different from "battery and starter" wire.

The car audio wire is hundreds (usually 620-700) of strands of smaller wire wrapped into a rope. Current flows over the surface area of the strands, not the "core" of the wire. The car audio wire is much more flexible due to all the smaller strands.

Since the "battery and starter" 4 gauge is several thicker wires, the surface area is reduced. This will not allow as much current to pass.

It may allow the same voltage, but not current.

I'm relocating the pc 680 into the back of my eg hatch soon. I'll be using 4 gauge car audio wire, and, since I utilize a 1 farad capacitor already, it will aid in the starting of the car.

Cliff notes: Use car audio 4 gauge for relocation

I used 8 or 6 gauge i forgot...it was a weak start but it worked with a optima battery, I bought 4 gauge and starts up for me better than stock.
