Default New member looking for some cheap upgrades

Hello everyone, I am a returning owner back to my 1996 Accord LX 4 cyl. When I first drove the Accord I never cared to modify it, and I ended up inheriting a 99 Mercedes ML 320. As I am sad to see the Mercedes go, I am equally excited to start modding the Accord. I am actually looking for some suggestions since I do not know where to look for good parts. Im looking for projector headlights, better looking taillights, but not ones with lots of chrome or smoked. Im also going to replace the amber and red lenses in the front and rear bumpers with clear ones. I already have fog lights I was going to put on the Mercedes that will fit easily in the front bumper of the Accord. The last couple thing I am looking at are glow gauges and turn signal mirrors. All of the ones below are off of Ebay, and ive heard some cars get great products off of ebay and some get crappy, so any input would be great.

Also, any other suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Mike McGehee

check the fs/wtb section, some simple upgrades are all over it, search it before you post. also this is more of a technical forum, so you may get some crap from some people for a post like this
good luje

I have one suggestion dont buy anything off ebay..either it wont work or it will break. save your money and do some really nice upgrades. for example...suspension, wheels, stuff like that little engine upgrades...dont waste your money on projectors and tailights and side mirrors with turn signals in them..thats a waste of time and money...Get some JDM headlights they look 1000000000000x better than projectors..yes I know they can be expensive but they look amazing!

Dont bash the guy for wanting to buy the things he does....Its his car, not yours.

OP: as far as buying things off of ebay, its kind of hit and miss, just be smart about what your buying, and im sure you will have a good track record

I do suggest that for your projectors you go with TYC, since they are a quality brand, i love mine, and i have heard nothing bad about them from anyone on here. and you might also add upgrading t he bulbs to HID in the projectors

thanks for all your responses. I do not think I am going to do any of that because i do think they are a little ricey too, and i will probably be selling this and my Mercedes and hopefully get enough to buy a V6 00-02 Accord.

my biggest thing is how much money do i want to put into a car with 162,000 miles and some needed bodywork from ppl in the school parking lot? my familys loves hondas, right now our cars are the accord, 06 cr-v, 04 pilot, mercedes and my dads 69 camaro ss... ive been really impressed with all accord v6's, plenty of power for a college student and i can throw some money into it here and there

V6's do have a pretty good amount of power but the upgrades you can do to those to gain power are very very minimal...so really if your looking for a decent amount of HP with a car you can mod easily keep the accord you have...but if your not planning on doing much mods at all if any...then the v6 would be nice...but the 4 cylinder would get better gas mileage also...there so many pros and cons to each..so i mean its all up to what you plan on doing and what you want im just trying to help you out and point you in the right direction

I for my rear bumper lights, and front bumper lights off of ebay. The black ones they look good and fit fine. Just dont buy the cheapest ones go for the next price up, and look at the ratings of the dealers.

For headlights, If I were you, Get the jdm SiR headlights, just not the ones that are stamped stanley. I have them and i love them, but you do have to do a wiring harness conversion from 9006/9005 to h4/h1. Get the connectors at autozone and you're finished.

Anyways, most of all stuff i buy off ebay, its an easy place to buy stuff, just buy name brand stuff, I dont buy just any brand. You wont get ripped off than. Instead of buying through a performance shop cuz the prices are outrageous.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, Ill share what I can to help you out. Oh and the automatic transmissions from the 00-02 accords I heard were poo. Now Idk if thats the v6 auto tranny but I remember reading that somewhere around here.

why not get them if they are stamped stanley..that means they are true JDM headlights not the knock offs....and its 98-02 auto trannies in the accords are crap..they have a 100k mile warranty on them though..but I wouldnt get an auto if i did get one of those year accords
