Using heat wrap keeps the heat inside the heat wrap. That means out of the engine bay. Which is good.

The bad thing about it is that it makes your header corrode more due to holding in moisture and such.

x2 on that but i may add that hotter gasses travel faster so keeping the heat from escaping the header your have better exhawst gass flow = little more power

In certain cars, it may also help the A/C lines from melting but I've never heard of that happening on any Prelude. I've just got a chap Megan header so I think I may put some wra. I won't be too hurt if it goes bad. I'll just get another one.

They do it because they like rust

...........and lower underhood temps.

http://www.centuryperformance.com/heatwraps.asp . okay so im not wrapping the header. thanks people!. AC line is double insulated anway infront of header. i would think it would be okay unless some dum dum took it off for what ever reason. mine is there so i probably shouldn't have to worry about my ac line melting.

also if you have some cheapy ebay headers, header wrap will probably cause them to crack from the heat alone in a very short time.

Not only will it reduce underhood temps, the exhaust gases will stay hotter and improve velocity.
