Fantastic?

You rebuilt a transmission so obviously you did some research on the gear ratios.

Sounds like a good mix to me, I hope that's a JDM final drive because the USDM ITR and GSR have the same final drive.

LS 5th is always a good idea.

But just out of semi-lacking in tranny knowledge I give you a 4.

i'd use a gsr 5th too. you'll in essence have a 98+ jdm itr tranny.

maybe a 4.9fd too

Hell, you put in a 4.9FD, and I'll buy it.

4&1/2

it's a 98+ jdm itr with a ***** 5th gear.

4.785 final + b16 5th = fun.

5000rpm @ 80mph = awesome

I thought having the ls 5th would net better Mpg?

What's wrong with an LS 5th?

people always yammer about lower rpms = less mpg. But I've yet to see someone actually prove it. The difference is so minute that the only time we would notice is if were were making it a point to find a difference.

1.0 5th gear with 4.25 final, 4950 @ 80mph, 30mpg
0.7 5th gear with 4.25 final, 3400 @ 80mph, 30mpg

As far as rating this transmission, you can't really rate something that's subjective. There is no "best setup" As it's going to be what's best for YOU.

it's got a short 1-2-3 which is nice, the only thing that I'd rather have is a shorter b16 4th instead of the gsr 4th. But that's just me cause i'm super picky about stuff like that

After having daily driven both an EM1 and a DC4, I'd have to say that a hydraulic-clutch "LS" 0.714:1 5th gear is rarely a good idea.

Unless you like driving around in 4th gear everywhere but on the highway.

Or lugging it out in 5th and not moving anywhere.

I'd only consider it with a 4.9:1 FD.

It depends on how you drive. Lugging in 5th gear is different between freeway speeds in 5th gear. Some people don't know when to shift so their car does not lug.
