whats the best oil filter to use for a 2000 civic si, cuz i know oil pressure and oil is important in a vtec, so i wanna know what the best filter would be?

 

As long as it's the right weight oil and a decent filter it really doesn't amount to anything as long as your oil change intervals are right.

Dino or synthetic, whatever floats your boat.

Your engine wont really care.

People have been driving on dino oil for how many years? unless you hardcore track your car i wouldn't pay the extra for synthetic.

There are ump-teen threads about oil changing in hondas. It's an econobox, not a race car.

 

I use K&N filters and Castrol GTX partial syn. oil in my civic.. It's a little overkill, but it gives me peace of mind knowing I have only quality oil/parts in my car.

$3 Fram oil filter with the grip from walmart over here . I have always used them on all my cars and have never let me down.

Good way to do it, I usually run fram filters because of the cool grippy stuff on the filter.

 

just make sure the old gasket piece doesn't stick when you swap the filters, or the filter won't tighten properly and then BLAM oil is all over the headers and big fire..

FRAM are great when they work but I heard there was a bad batch going around.

 

OEM is probably best but it's kind of expensive, I use Purolator from Pepboys $3 FTW.

 

my last oil change i used an oem filter from the dealership. it was a lot smaller than the napa gold filter i had on there previously.

 

I used MObil 1 Filter/oil. Great stuff.

 

i have never seen mobil 1 filter, where would you find that? cuz i use mobil one synthetic oil, and i'd rather use mobil one filter also

 

i've never had a problem with wix/napa-gold filters.
i order them in bulk online so i don't pay $6.99ea at napa; usually about $4.25ea online.

Why would you rather use a Mobil 1 filter? They're not magical, and they don't last any longer than any other filter.

Just use an OEM Filter (Toyo Roki) or a Napa Gold filter (WIX).

 

I get them at Advanced Auto parts.

 

i get the bosch, they are almost the same quality as Mobil1, with almost half the price. And there is a difference, there was an article somewhere where they opened up the filters to see the differences. Fram was alsmot the worst, that thing had cardboard material in there.

 

I personaly choose K&N

 

k&n is pretty good, expensive though. that filter is good for cars where it is hard to get your hands around when taking it off because you can use a socket.

 

most of the time i go with oem oil filter on my 00 EM1

HAMP or OEM filters are what come on Hondas from the factory so thats what I use. They are alot smaller than most filters and hold high psi if needed. Also they keep a good amount of oil in the filter so it circulates quickly after startup.

how much for each filter or how much i have? i think each filter goes for about 5-6 bucks around there...i had over 60 filters and sent 2 of my buddies 30 each...

 

Well, i guess when you change it every month it doesn't really matter what you use huh. 60 filters, damn that's a lot of fliters

Ya i got a shitty fram filter where the ring broke off and i leaked oil all over the ******* ground when i stated, NO MORE FRAM FOR ME

So yuo're saying you left the old oil filter gasket on and forgot to remove it when you put your new one on?
