Default Fabricated (sort of) heatshield/cold air setup (warining turbo diesel ahead)

My dad and I installed a 5" turboback and filter for the Cummins, he was gonna have the filter kinda sit there and me make a headshield, but I decided using the lower half of the airbox witht he cold air duct, and attaching a heat shield would be the best bet:

making the template:

Time to build it:

Installed:

I would have TIG'd it together at the point above the intake, but I still suck at TIG

Im gonna get some fender trip stuff for the edges

there is a 4x8 duct going into the fender on the side of the oem airbox. it utilized the factory sold air setup. the headshield seals tightly with the firemat.

Nice Nice Nice !!

I own a 2003 F350 Powerstroke, with the 6.0l

I plan on doing the same thing to mine shortly, but a Diablosport controler will be in the package and the exhaust will be 4 inch. I do have a tendency to get the AFE air intake systeme and MOTOBLUE exhaust.

Disel are great truck, Cummins are best engine... I use to say that the greatest truck would be a Ford with Cummins engines and Allison 6speed tranny...

keep up good work!

Awesome, just picked a 97 12v the other day, loving it so far.

One of the first things I planned to do is build the intake and do all the afc/pump adjustments then build a 5" exhaust for it.

Found a cool site yesterday with a nice homebrew twin turbo setup on a 1gen 12v

I did hear one of the intake restrictions though was that snorkel leading up to the factory airbox, but with it opened up top it should make up for it.

interesting, ill have to tell my dad about that. the fender side of the headshield is open so its not completely air tight, so it should be good.

we ended up having to not even use the over-axle section of the exhaust since the truck is a cab-on-body flatbed, it would not work, so it is just 5" piping, the muffler and a 90* before the rear wheel. if we would od it over again we would just buy some 5" piping and a muffler and make it ourself. the downpipe would be a PITA to make so I'd just buy that.

my dad actually bought a different muffler that is a little quieter, so if you plan on making an exhaust, I'll have a muffler for sale.
