Default Battery acid leak?!?

"if your battery is only lasting a year then i would really think about taking the alternator out and testing that thing. do you have alot of accessaries? is there alot of battery acid around the battery? "

what does it mean if there is batt acid around the batt.

EDIT: Cleaned the area witha baking soda/water mix to neutralize the acid.

yeah i wore gloves, just wondering what caused this? Could anyhting other than a hole in the batt cause this? And how did it get a hole in it?

Looks like i'm gonna buy a new one today.

Batteries are sealed, under no circumstances should there be battery acid leaking out.

Well i dont know how it got punctured but i'm gonna replace it. Anything special i should look for in a batt or will the cheap walmart or autozone batt work fine?

I assume its acid it looed like a whiteish greenish residue no actual wet acid before i clened it off. More like a dried residue from where the acid had been?

lol, I would consider better battery depending on if it is a dd or a garage queen. The autozone/wallymart special will be ok for a dd but you might want to upgrade for a rarely driven R.

its a dd, so i think i will be fine with the walmart autozone special. Thought about a lightweight batt, but i'm still comtemplating the functionality with it deing a dd.
