Default Cel code 12 after washing engine bay, Water in EGR valve / system ???

Check engine light is on for the EGR system. A few hours before the light came on .. I sprayed the engine bay for cleaning. The the light is on because there is water in the EGR valve ? Car started to hesitate and idle fluctuates. It probably need to be taken apart and cleaned. I'm also going to be looking at cleaning EGR ports on the runners soon. Any1 know if Water is the problem ??

I had something similar happen on my Acura Legend. I broke a plug wire and filled the spark tubes in the head with water.

You have to be careful when cleaning the engine bay, especially with a high pressure wash. You may have broken a wire to your EGR valve. This happen when the high pressure water causes the cable to flag back and forth at a high rate, sometimes breaking a wire inside the insulation. The break may not be detectable from simple observation as it may be broken inside the insulation as in my case with the plug wires.

You may have to check continuity on each wire in the EGR harness. It may be time to break out a good wiring diagram for your engine bay.

Good luck
