Default 2007 si xm radio troubles

ok I had a post in the audio/video forum but nobody seamed to help out... I bought an si sedan just a little over a month ago. I didnt buy the xm service cause i thought the dealer told me that i could get it any time just by calling a number. well one month later i call the number and the XM people tell me i have to get some reciever box installed from the dealer... well thats $600.00 bucks... circuit city and basically any other place said they can do it but it will be a universal unit and id have to get a small unit that displays the stations... from what i herd is that since is so new for honda that nobody other than hondas subcontracted people make the unit that go into my car.... now my question is.... does anyone know where i might find one (tried ebay) or if anyone has one that they dont want and would like to sell to me?

2nd question.... since the car comes "xm ready" can you install sirius instead of xm while still using the stock display from honda.....

This is a bit confusing to me so if its not explained all that well . heh well thats prly why... im not really stereo friendly

Ok here is it in a nutshell

Your car doesnt have XM... however there is an additional piece that you need to put in like discussed.

its about 226 dollars and integrated into your oem deck.

Now.. can you put an aftermarket one in... Sure.. however, you'd have to control it manually OR through a supplied remote control with the unit you pick AND it would have to put plugged in via AUX jack. which would only let you control the volume.

There are rumors to be a unit on the horizon that will adjust cars that are XM or Sirius ready to play the OTHER companies, but honestly.. i haven't really looked into it too much.

If you want XM...dont want wires everywhere (without custom fabbing something) and can follow directions well.. go for the OEM honda XM kit.

on the link i put up above click INSTALLATION PDF on the XM kit and you'll see exactly what needs to be done for it to go in your si.

Ok... you got a non-navi i assume. The non-navi's caome XM Ready..meaning you have to buy a receiver from Honda and have it installed, you can a plug n play sirius receiver instead and get an adapter to plug into your radio to transmit SOUND ONLY... you will NOT be able to see any display, so you will get sound through the "aux" input but you will still see your sirius info on ur receiver ie: starmate, s50 etc... anymore questions?

Also if you plan on doing the XM kit and activating it....

search on Slickdeals.net & fatwallet.com you can usually get your ENTIRE first year for about 50-60 bux as opposed to 100+
