i figured it would be best to ask you guys
i have cbr 600 carbs on my first gen crx ,and was wondering what i should do as to fuel pump ??? i bought a 7psi electric pump for my first set that was regulated down to 1 1/2 psi to 2 psi but it didnt run to good flooded the carbs the crazy
i now have a new rebuilt set of cbr 650 carbs and a holley blue fuel pump regulator ,the thing is that the carbs a gravity fed and the pump is electric
is there a way i can slow the fuel down a bit or set up the lines so it doesnt flood the carbs ??? i havent set the new ones up on the car yet because i dont want to have the same issues
here is a pic of my setup
old carbs and manifold

and my new carbs

any info would be greatly appreciated
mitch

yes i have
i first tried a mr.gasket one ,but now i have a holley one
see the thing with gravity fed carbs is they take fuel when needed and having an electric pump forces the fuel into them causeing them to flood ,so i was thinking of routing the lines by having 2 or more others attached to the feed line and have them routed back to the return so it doesnt force so much into the carbs and having it regulated at the same time ,then tune till it runs right
you think it would work ????? i dont really want to waste money if its pointless to do

No it wont - the fuel in the car will always be higher than they are supposed to - at the overflow.
Your best bet is to rig up some sort of tank that the carbs can gravity feed from in the engine bay.
Also, get a hold of a honda service manual for the bike the carbs came off of - and make sure any additional vacuum lines are routed properly - you may need them or else the slides wont open, and you may need to fab up an airbox or vacuum log.

Those look like the carbs that are on my bike (CB650 Nighthawk). Bikez.com says they are Keihin 29mm carburetors. I have a book for it at home, when I get off work I can look through it and see if theres any information that might help.

Talk to users DonF and Bisimoto if you want some good info on using Webbers. I've heard Lectrons are very good as well. There have been a few threads on using carbs elsewhere in this forum. Do a search in the all motor forum for "carbs" using both recent and archived threads.

they have a carb kit for a b18 its pricey though but it would be insane

i set up the pump , FPR, FPG,and big fram performance filter i allso put lines on the bottom of the float bowls and will send it to a catch can on the driver side under the booster forgot to buy a plug for the one side of the FPR so i have to wait untill monday ,but i think the bolt and line will work until then
lol

the check valve will be out of there ,im having trouble finding 4 into 1 T ,i might have to run 2 normal Ts

if i bought a b18 id still have to do a fi swap ,since they dont have vacum advance
but pretty cool set up
what cha think ???

by no means am i an expert, but if the carbs are gravity feed you are gonna want the reservoir to be higher than the carbs. also if your reservoir fills up to quick wont it pressurize and flood your carbs

The car is going to run poorly - the carbs will either flood, or it will run way too lean (needs more vacuum to pull fuel out of a too full float bowl).
If the carbs have to be gravity fed, then run your fuel pump to an accumulator and gravity feed the carbs from that.

This is basically what I was thinking, and may be the simplest solution. While reading this thread, I was thinking of something along the lines of a modified fuel rail. It would hold plenty of fuel (after you figured out flow rates) and definately wouldn't be too big or obtrusive.
You could also design it to sit right on top of the carbs.

im no expert either lol that why i posted it most guys that have done this on another forum ddint even add the lines tot he float bowls ,i just didnt want the the fuel to pour all over the place ,

You have to make something.

you could try using a fuel injected fuel rail. run your inlet line normal. tap each injector outlet hole and put in an outlet nipple. attach 1 hose per hole. and connect to each carb. you could mount the rail above the carbs and gravity feed them. keep fuel pressure low, up to the rail, and then tap the outlet on the rail where the oem fi injection pressure regulator is, and run an unrestricted return line. you could even put an inline fuel pressure gauge in the return line right out of the fuel rail to monitor rail pressure. the rail should stay at a low psi. 0-1psi if your return line is big enough and you will have a constant source of fuel. i have like 4 oem fuel injected fuel rails laying around. i bet someone close to you would give you one.

The carbs already have a "rail" on them - there's one fuel line going into the carbs.

there is actually 2 lines into a T and one return ,one line feed 2 carbs and the other feed the other 2
ive been looking around for one of those accumulators and there is alot for water pump and boats and planes ,but all water ,which im sure would work ,but id rather have one for fuel
ill find one though

YOu want to use a single doce an have a manifold fabricated... that will be the ****. individual carbs, specially crappy CV's are a waste of your time.

not yet ,i havent been able to find someone to order one in for me ,and ive been real busy to even try and start the car ,with finishing odds and ends odds and ends ,first when i was ready to turn it over ,i had no fuel ,so i went to put fuel and it poured all over ,crack in the filler neck ,so i grabbed on from my hatchback but it was to long ,i cut it down and added a piece of rubber filler neck ,and have yet to install...soon though i hope ,then i couldent find the thermo switch ,with the custom reducer ,since i have a omni dual core half rad in my car ,so i couldent add antifreeze ,i spent hours looking for it with no luck ,i might have to buy a new one i guess , but im going to see if it will fire in the next few days with or without anti freeze ,it wont hurt it
ill update on what happens

lol sorry i been trying to get a accumulator but no luck ,i live near a small town in the middle of no where ,so everything pretty much has to be ordered in ,that oout of the norm
i tried to strat the car ,and nothing ,**** ,so i checked around to see why ,i have sno spark ,whoops ,coil was hooked up backwards ,and im not getting any fuel to any of the cylinders ,and im not to sure why ,the guys i bought the carbs off had them on his d16a1 ,and had them rebuilt just before i bought them ,The carbs are sitting level
is there somehting im missing ??? what is the other thing for on the carbs ?? is it for a choke cable ??? ,when i lift it up it opens somehting near the top of the carbs
i think im going to have to buy a manuel for these things ,maybe it will help me understand what everythign does lol
