Default My cheap bucket of crap CRX

So, at the service station next door, there was a CRX. It said Si on the back, I thought "All right, disc brakes for the Hatch!" Well, the guy calls me, we meet up. I am shown all of it's horrid glory and how it is in fact not a Si. No rear disc. No better motor. I saw the DOHC badge an thought maybe a swap. Nope. Oh well, I low ball the crap out of him and take it. Check this bucket out. Glove box full of salt & peppa, rear lower springs w/ OE front spring. OE shocks of course. I cleaned it out, tons of roaches. He said it doesn't like to run, so I put a half gallon of gas, used set of wires & plugs from my hatch. Runs like a champ. Make sure to check out the sexy bald rear tires. What should I do with this thing? It's loud and nasty. The battery is held down by a bungy cord. The engine appears to be reasonably healthy. No massive leaks. I am not gonna swap anything into it, I have my hatch for that. The body is quite jacked up. Interior is all right.

and one of my hatch for fun.

Default Salt and Peppa

I kinda thought you were kidding when you said the glove box was full of salt and peppa. Guess not. Thats a dude who likes extra pepper on his Taco Time.

Love the SI badge from an 87 too.

So what did you pay for it?

Wouldn't you have known if it was an Si or not just by checking the car's title/registration?

I'll tell you this - I bought an Si in much worse condition (body wise) with a stock engine for $1200, so don't feel so bad =P

I AM NOT UPSET. I knew what it was when I paid for it. It's a lil economical car. After my vacation, I am gonna fix it up a little bit and sell it to someone who needs a car. It's not pretty, but it'll run great and get great MPG's.

Sell it for $1500 and call it a day.

It doesn't look bad at all to me, both of my CRX's were bought in worse shape than that.

You'll have fun fixing up the crx, its a decent plateform.

Don't get to bent out of shape over the rear disk conversion. IMO its not worth it. I did it and regret it. It will cost you money, add weight, have a weaker park brake, and will provide either the same or just slightly less performace than the drum set up.
A lot of people don't know that in 1990 when the crx switched to rear disk, the car actually stopped 3 feet longer than the previous model with rear drums.

Thats pretty interesting ^^^ But was probably due to extra weight elsewhere in the car.

The extra weight is in the arms and calipers of the rear disk conversion

Great find for the price!! Make that bitch an autocross car!!

Don't worry bout the body and paint, gut the **** out of it, then:

swap,
coilovers,
wheels tires bushings misc suspension tweaks,

And then beat the living **** out of it on track days.

Oh, I really am not. This car is what it is. A little crap rocket. No clue what I wanna do with it, I leave on vacation today, so I'll have some time to ponder. And get hammered.

I have seen alot worse, it actually has alot if potential to be a good car. You can't find CRXs around here with full interior, I would have been happy as hell to find that thing Good luck.
