Hi my girlfriend has a 95 prelude si and she just had the timing belt changed. The guy did a pretty crappy job and had oil leaking everywhere because he didn't change the valve gasket and didn't even have the cover lined up properly so I fixed that. Anyways right after that the power steering started making a loud squeal and didn't feel right. Ended up being a hose was loose from when he did the timing belt and it was sucking in air. Got that fixed and the next day the temp gauge maxes out while were driving so we take it to a shop and they said the radiator is cracked. They replaced the radiator and we drive home and it's still maxing out. It will max out for a minute or so and then fall back to the middle of the gauge and then rise to max again. It smells hot, and I can't see any leaks anywhere. Any ideas?

That's pretty common any time the cooling system is exposed. Most likely they did not bleed all the air out of the system.

Make sure there are no more leaks and then you will need to bleed out the air. Start the engine with the rad cap off (when it's cold) and see if you can let any air out. Then when it begins to warm up replace the rad cap and loosen the bleeder screw on top of the the thermostat housing (where the longer radiator hose goes into the engine) and that will bleed out the rest of the air. Keep it open until a steady stream of coolant comes out.

If it still overheats, try to bleed it again and go from there.

 

Thanks for the help. I wasn't able to find the bleeder screw, but I did open the cap and let it run. Seemed to get some air out and took it out for a drive with no overheating. However it was much cooler tonight than when we were driving today. If it starts overheating again I'll have to try to find the bleeder screw.

 

the bleeder screw is on the left sback side of the head. its slightly of to the side. it looks like a normal screw.

No problem. The bleeder screw is number 14:

 

Ok so I thought that fixed it but on her way to work today it started overheating again. Then on the way home it broke down completely. The powerlocks started locking and unlocking while driving and while doing this the gauges went out turning off and on. At idle the rpms go from normal to 0 and then back to normal quickly without turning off the car. The car lost power and in order to drive she had floor it to even keep going. She pulled over at a gas station and that is where the car is going to be overnight.

 

So the car is still stuck at a gas station. I went by today for a second after I dropped her off at work and messed with the car. The gas pedal is stuck in the closed position. When you push on the pedal it wont go down at all but it does make the dash lights flash and the doors lock multiple times. I popped the hood and was able to manually move the throttle. So I think its a combination of a linkage problem and electrical. Anyone ever had this I can't find anything online, and am prob going to have to tow it.

 

you got a crooked mechanic. all these problems right after you do a timing belt change. maybe he rigged the problem so you can go back to him and donate more money.

 

Maybe, the only reason we went to him is because my girlfriend works with his daughter and she said we should goto her dad. So knowing that his daughter works with my girlfriend I don' t think he would try to screw us. I just know that the car is really messed up now its the weirdest thing ive seen. You just barely touch the pedal and all the electronics on the car start freaking out and then the car dies.

He may not be a bad person, but I don'y think he knew what he was doing or he made a mistake...try looking around near the pedal for any strange wiring maybe..
