air conditioning help!
ok im not good with AC so someone help me out
I know if the freon gets low the compressor wont engage at all
so on my 92 hatch
I flip the ac on and the clutch DOES engage and the compressor spins does that mean IM full of freon?
no cold air comes out and its getting hot here
so what do I need more freon?
or something else to be checked?

you can go and pick up one of those freon charge kits at your local parts store.it is the freon can and a gauge included. you can use the gauge to read if you are actually low or not. if you are add until charged.

check out your evaporator, could be filled with dust etc. i would recommend getting a manifold guauge set and seeing your pressures and compare them to specs.
Well unless it was converted to r134 that system is r12 freon. The 2 types are not compatible with one another. the system should be evacuated and have the r134 added to it you might have to have a dye added to check for leaks good luck
dont mean to jack the thread, but where do u put oil in? when i turn the ac on in my 00 si, the motor seriously draggs when the compressor kicks in, but still blows cold air. any ideas?

jesus, gotta love diy freon charges. u have no idea how low your frean sys. is, u have no idea how much to put in. your pressures should be about 200-240 high and 35-50 low, if that helps. the gauge your talking about is low side only. is your comp. clutch cycling alot? on-off.
I had the same problem on my civic a/c would almost stall the motor at idle. But it worked well at 1500 rpm and above. It turned out to be a bad ground near the compressor. The idle controll was not getting the message that the load on the motor had increased. I hope this helps.
