ok, i drive a 97 coupe, with a soch ZC motor... when in first, as i go up in the RPMs, u can hear a clear sound in tone.... almost as if its vtec, yet i sont have vtec... and deff no power difference...a friend says he thinks i just have a reallllllllly bad exhaust leak, but im not sure.... motor wise, everythings fine, tranny seems fine, no grinds, and when still, it sounds like a mild grind... any help?

Uh. I think all cars do that above 4000rpms it gets louder.

 

uhmm.... no... i know that... and if anyone cares, i found out that its my throwout bearing... however you spell it....

 

Usually your throwout or input shaft bearing you hear when your clutch is engaged or disengaged. It's not likely that you'll hear it when crusing unless your coasting through a parking lot at 3mph in gear.
