Default H23A1 -> H22A swap - ECU/wiring

Hi everyone, hope you can advise...

I have a UK 4th gen Prelude VTEC 4ws with a H22A swap, this car was hit from behind and isnt drivable anymore

My girlfriend went and bought a 4th gen UK Prelude 2.3 4ws, and the water pump gave up which caused the haed gasket to pop a few weeks after repair, so im left with a UK 2.3 shell, and a JDM H22a engine.

Can anyone give me a heads up on any issues im about to come accross, especially with regard to ECU's. Like does anyone know if the wiring in the 2.3 will accept the ECU from the H22A, and even are the connections the same? I know the engines are very similar but i figured i should get some advise before i tell the mechanic to start work.

Also does anyone know of any significant differences between the two cars that will affect the swap?

Any help or advise guys much appreiciated

Cheers

The H23 car will be missing the wiring for VTEC, otherwise assuming they are both OBD1 everything else is pretty much compatible wiring wise.

Its called searching. Oh, and if you looked at the top of the prelude forum at the FAQ section you might find the answer. Oh wait, you want your hand held, here you go:

how to wire vtec:

you can use the p14 ecu that is with the h23 but you have to run wires for vtec.(easy). everything is a straight drop and you can swap over all your external parts such as dizzy, alternator, compressor..etc.

search it next time

Just to clarify, you can use the P14 but you won't have vtec until you get a P13 or other vtec ECU and run the wires (2). I think that's what you where trying to say, just making sure its clear.

Thats weird - I just did this swap in my 95 Prelude SI and I had to run VTEC wires since they didn't already exist. I guess pre-wired Preludes were hit and miss for 4th gens.

Thanks for evryones input. - sean1121, thanks for the links to the information you posted. Sorry for not searching. No i wont hold your hand thanks ^^

I think this thread has shown that if im fortunate to get a prelude pre wired for vtec, it'll be an easy swap. If not then a bit of wiring would be required...which i figure would be fairly easy too, awkward perhaps, but straight forward.

BUT, what about resistance on the wires on all that....?
Must they be a certain length, or will just following the loom the best i can do the job?

Doesn't matter, just connect them to the pressure switch and solenoid.
