4th Gen Rear Main Seal
So the next thing the dealer is telling me is the my oil leak is the engines rear main seal. They want $660 for parts and labor.
Never done this before. What level of skill would you say to perform this job? I'm guessing most of the money is towards the labor and think the labor might be more intense than what I can perform.
Any help or knowledge in this area guys/gals?
BTW, this is for my 92 LX.

you can get a rear main seal for like 20 bucks at autozone..the only problem is you have to drop the tranny..thats why its so expensive for someone to do it. if you think you can pull the tranny go for it...its not to rough..its kinda hard the first time you do it but its not that bad at all..if it was me id do it myself but ive dropped a few trannys in my lifetime so it wouldnt take me that long...my first time it took me like 3 weeks do drop the tranny and put it back in...now i can do it all in like a day...maybe 2 at the most

Thank you. Sounds like a job for me. Numerous engine/tranny swaps in my past. If it's only $20 at Autozone, maybe I'll splurge and buy the rear Honda seal....maybe.

actually now that Ive looked its only 13.95 for a geniune honda replacement on http://www.tasauto.com of course you have to pay shipping but surely it wouldnt be expensive for something that weighs 2 ounces...yea its really simple just gotta pull the tranny...pop the old one out with a flat head and pop the new one in with a rubber mallet.just make sure you get it in straight and flush!
yea id never pay 700 bucks for that.. im doing mine this weekend when i put my new cluch in. In the 06 december issue of super street they have a complete how to on a clutch install and i think it would be very helpful. Go to their web site and check it out. i think its under tech articles. GL.
