How much tuning for Toda A's (need HELP, already installed)
Ok. My buddy has an '00 ITR with:
AEM CAI
DC JDM 4-1 header
2.5'' Carsound SMSP cat
5-Zigen fireball catback
AEM FPR
Apexi V-AFC
STR fuel rail
Internals:
Toda A camshafts
Skunk2 cam gears (stock settings)
titanium retainers
He took it to get dyno tuned and obviously the guys there didn't know what the heck they were doing because his car runs like crap and he left with 167 whp. I wasn't there to help unfortunately.
They set his VTEC x-over to 5800 rpm. I'm not sure whatelse they did with his V-AFC. I'll check it out. I'm thinking that having the cam gears at 0,0 is causing a loss in power from what I've heard from others that just dropped spec A's in. His car feels noticably slower than when he had I/H/E and stock cams.
We aren't going to be able to dyno tune it for a good while due to funds but I'd like to try and fix it a little until we can. What would you recommend we play with?
What are good cam gear settings?
Should I increase his fuel pressure?

dont try guessing and tuning it at all without a dyno. bad idea. once you do get on a dyno and tune it properly don't be suprised by the results. the Toda A's aren't going to do much at all over the stock cams. but good luck anyways
I just went in his car and checked out his V-AFC settings. To me it looks like the guy tuning his car didn't know what to do. VTEC x-over is actually 5900. Mike K said 5200-5300 is a good x-over for A's didn't he? I might have his dyno sheet scanned online sometime soon. I didn't have time to look at it as I had to run off to work.
get an experienced tuner for the street. from what ive have seen, tuning on the street can be very effective if done correctly.
Better to buy 1 hr of dyno time and use the wideband o2 there to tune it yourself. You should be in the 180's easily by tuning using the instructions on http://www.hondata.com.....
Good luck.
