Default Turbo bikes?

Has anyone in this forum turbo charged their bikes? If so, was it worth it? And how many pounds are you boosting? Speeding on a bike is hard to control already, but with boost, wouldnt it just be too crazy? I dunno I am just curious.

he's right. Nothing comes up on the search. But it has been covered before.
Why would it be "worth it" Do you need more power out of your F4i?
I believe 85 has had some experience with turbo'd bikes, but i'm not sure.
You can always surf google or check a busa forum.

a little more power would be nice, but for the moment turbo seems way too much. Maybe in the near future? just something to think about. Mainly interested in the outcome of boosted 600s.

here's what happens with a turbo. you drop a ton to get it to work. you have a unuseable powerband. The bike wheelies uncontrollably unless it's lowered and stretched. You'll get many speeding tickets, get arrested, or die.

turboing a bike is pretty impractical if you ask me.
The only point is either drag racing, or show.
If you thought you powerband was high now, it'll be even more ridiculous with a turbo. Especially on a 600. It'll take forever for the thing to spool up, and then once it does you'll have even more power than you're not using now. Reliability goes down, and maintenance goes up.

My chin spoiler is purely cosmetic. I can't think of anything else it would do.

Got one! Some of your comments anern't entirely true. My bike starts making boost around 4400 rpm. full boost @6k. I would agree that it is a better application for dragracing, although Team Mr. ran a turbo 900rr years ago and were banned from WERA's extreme class because they dominated it!(wheelies) With my bike stock wheelbased I could pull the front tire up @ well over a 120mph. My kit is a street kit. Intercooled with secondary injection. I run 10# of boost on pump gas. Anything higher I run 110 octane. The engine is stock other than hd valve springs cam sprockets, high volume oil pump and 80thou base gasket to lower compression. I have had no problems as of yet. 6700 miles. I've seen similar set ups with over 30k on them. If you want to know anything else just ask.

My statements were about a turbo on a 600cc bike. You're got an extra 700ccs on this guys bike so i really doubt his F4i will be making peak boost as low as you.
He could run a tiny littleturbo and spool faster, but at that point why put all the effort in to it.

I would buy a liter bike before I put a turbo on a 600!

If I do get a liter bike it will be later. By then I would like to keep my f4i as a project bike. Is it very uncommon to see boosted 600s?

I know of a fellow in Maine who had a pretty neat setup on an f3 and 929 of his; Dave at f1 dyno. If I remember right, I "think" the f3 made 200 wheel?

Wow, those would be very impressive numbers even for a boosted F3 . Most turbo 600s that I've seen were around 150-160s to the tire.

Hmm, now that I think about it, maybe those were the 929 numbers. Dunno, will have to hunt around for the original pages.

Why not buy a bigger bike? With enough money you can do anything but why spend so much when a 1100 will do.

The guy/shop I work for on weekends specializes in turbo rebuilds and drag motorcycles, the owner has been racing bikes for about 40 years now. Since I've been around (his shop, 15ish years) I'd say i've seen about 300 to 400 turbo bikes, mostly drag bikes with monster engines to go along with... but the street bikes we do have come through have all been 900cc's and up. One maybe 2 under that... he turns that business away and tells them to come back when they have a 1000... Not saying a 600 can't or shouldn't be done, its just uncommon... Best one I ever got to ride was a 04 gsxr1000 with a Mr.Turbo kit on it at 17lbs.... WOW it could lift the front wheel off just rolling onto the throttle at 100mph, my 636 is plenty for me. If it were me, i'd get the 1000 first... when you wear that out, turbo it.
