Default Function & Form Type II Coilovers...

Does anyone have these yet? I'm curious to see photos, reviews, etc. These look to be a very nice setup.

Just another one of the dime a dozen crappy performing Taiwanese coilovers. Smart people tell you to wait for Konis and Ground Controls because unless you are willing to spend a hell of a lot more money the only thing you will be buying is crap. They look pretty though.

Look fine to me. Heard great reviews about them on other cars.

The same crap Taiwanese company produces suspension coilovers for Greddy, Apexi N1, Megan (type x don't u have these?), Form and Function and numerous others. To stay competitive, Japanese companies are subcontracting out to cheaper sources for their products now. There were topics, links and comparisons done on my350z.com.

I know this . 99% of the coilovers that JDM freaks love are junk too (including big names like Tein and Zea, both of which I have owned, and both of which were absolute crap). Go look at some dyno graphs if you want to see why. Here is a short list of good damper manufacturers:

Koni
Dynamic
Sachs
Ohlins
Moton
Penske
JRZ
Bilstein
Tokico (only buy if you are on a strict budget)

How so? Do you track your car and have some insight we don't know about? Dyno graphs? Please elaborate.

Yes, I tracked my STi a lot. The Tein and Zeal suspensions I owned (Tein Flex and Zeal Function X) both had bad fade after 1 hot lap of a smooth track (Gingerman) and the adjusters had a ton of crosstalk. Also, they didn't have enough of a digressive curve for me to be comfortable with them as DD and HPDE dampers. A damper dyno is something that shows the properties of the damper under compression and rebound and is a very good way of determining performance. They are a bit confusing to read at first, but once you learn you will have a much better ability to pick and choose good dampers.

Jon

EDIT: They have a great thread in the suspension forum showing damper dynos, it is a sticky at the top.

If you want someting pretty that is anodized in a bunch of cool colors you can't beat the TDM coilovers though, they come in pretty much every color of the rainbow.

Here is a link to a thread that contains a great article by a very skilled and accomplished Auto-X driver (Dennis Grant).

I have sent the guys at function and form a few separate messages and e-mails and they have only gotten back to me once and let me know that they had a couple guys running the setup on the FG but no pics. I honestly haven't seen anyone saying anything bout them for the FG nor have I heard anyone say they have them.

To tell you the truth my car is daily driven and will be occasionaly auto-x'd and I honestly am considering going with the Koni Yellow w/ GC sleeved coilovers.

Not too mention I am not overly impressed with Function and Forms Customer service or atleast there lack of response to a PM and E-mail inquiring about the Type II's for my FG.

Complex: Don't you have the Tein SS's? Are you unhappy with them or just interested in hearing what people have to say about the type II's?

customer reviews on a product like these are useless because its a bunch of doods who say there sick just because they are low and stiff.

I went from a koni/neuspeed set up on my old car which was very competitive in sts autocross classes.

I switched to a tein set up (ss) and totally hated it.

function and form are like stated above the same thing as ksport/megan/apexi/d2 and all the other entry priced coils geared towards people who want coliovers just to say they have coilovers.

I had kw v3s on my e36 m3 and i loved it, only reason why im not gonna wait for them to come out for our car is they use progressive springs, and i wanna try something else this time. So HondaF1Fanatic I see you know good about suspension, can you sugest me which to go or wait for?

I would recommend a Koni/GC combo (when it comes out. It isn't as cool looking as most of the "full coilovers" on the market but it gives you a great damper, ability to revalve/shorten to match heavier springs and the ability to choose a custom springrate based on your intended use. It also has a lifetime warranty backed up by large companies (Eibach, Koni) that you can count on a long time down the road. Certain TDM coilovers have a lifetime warranty but who knows what will happen when the importer/owner of the company gets sick of it?

The Omni damper dyno graph I saw was the best of the cheap TDM coilovers, but it still wasn't quite what I would want.
