B18c1 repair questions?
Ok i have a stock 01 gsr and honestly i wasn't really into cars when i first got it in 03. it had 45k on it and i really didn't keep up with the maintenance etc. Now I have fallen in love with the car and want to start to mold her into my picasso! Ok here's my question i am having some engine problems. the cel is on and i had the codes read by two shops( one small shop, and one acura dealership). They told it's throwing a vtec code, the primary o2 sensor code, and secondary o2 sensor code. Also when driving the car it would start to decelerate on it's on and then cut off. I would have to restart the car and the engine would turn over like 10 times and finally start up. I was thinking it could also be a fuel related problem,(fuel lines clogged or not enough fuel getting to the engine, or even the catalyic coverter not working properly and the exhaust fumes not leaving the engine in a efficient manner.
I have already replaced the catalyic converter about 1 yr ago and i know it should have lasted me more than 12 mths. Both shops told me that there is probably something internally wrong with the engine and that it would cost more to open the engine and determine the problem than to just get a new engine. I only have 107k on the engine and if i can salvage it i want to. What would you do in this situation? oh and sorry bout the long post i just wanted to be clear with the issues going on

Fuel filter? You need to explain that one.
Ok first, go and replace your oxygen sensors. If a cat gets too much or too little fuel it can burn out, and an O2 sensor can change that mixture. After that take your cat off and look inside to see if the substrate is melted or disintegrated.
107K isn't very high, those shops are bullshittng you. Go somewhere else.

Dirty fuel filters are prone to filter cake clogging, especially with higher flow rates. Removing the flow allows for the cake to fall away from the filter element to restore flow. This could cause his cut-out problem This car is in need of major routine maintenance before the more specialized issues are addressed.

Could be as simple as an ignition coil and/or ignitor, or a main fuel relay. There are test you can do to narrow down the problem, whether it is a fuel issue or ignition issue, or a timing belt that slipped (has it ever been changed?).
There are many things that can be the cause. Those guys at the shop just want you to buy a new engine so they can have your low mileage one, lol. Try to find some local Honda enthusiasts or maybe even a local shop that is trustworthy to look at it. And replacing O2 sensors is pretty easy and the NGK O2's run about $60 each.

i had a problem similar to this. i would be driving down the road and my car would literally feel like i turned it off, then all of a sudden it would come back to life and get back on it. then again and again. well what happend was, my fuel pump burned out on me. i replaced it and didnt have a problem. i was also having the start up problems. it would crank and crank and nothing. then it would fire up.
