Default radio interference

After having timing belt changed, radio(and tape deck) has interference bad enough to make it unusable. Sometimes it plays clear as a bell, sometimes turning headlights on clears it up(??), and sometimes it just won't clear up. Interference is a loud popping sound, but does not speed up or down due to engine speed, and also does it with engine off and switch in acc. position.Any ideas anyone? TIA

i think a grounding wire wasn't screwed back in. Thats what i think. Check around your engine bay for a wire that wasn't screwed in.
