I just put in the 2nd tranny this week.I got a new linkage and everything. I cannot get to 4th gear ( it grinds in and 5th gear is no where near to be found. )This is the 2nd tranny that does the same thing . It a SI 94 Hatchback tranny in my D15B VTEC engine. I can go 1,2,3 and R Just fine no grinds and the only thing i havent done is bleed my clutch slave cylinder or refill my tranny with fluid. I have not tried shifting to 4th since the last tranny fucked up from me forcing it in and i still coulndt catch 5th gear in the other tranny too. I have new shift linkage so that is ruled out. Could it be the slave cylinder since its not bleeded or could it be my tranny fluid is not sufficient???

 

what motor mounts do you have.. sounds like the tranny isnt sitting quite right.. there is only a few cm difference in the shifting which could make all the difference. in my stock motor mounts, the bushing was torn, the engine would torque and twist and never go into gear at higher rpms, i bought hasports and i hit every gear every time

o and also make sure that you are using the stock shift linkage pin.. i'v seen others us a roll pin from a hardware store and for some reason they always missed gears.. especially had trouble with reverse.

 

i would try some tranny fluid first. then move from there.

 

Im gonna try tranny fluid and see where i get when the tranny was out i was getting in every gear.mounted the tranny on lost alot of fluids (came out where the axles go in and bam no 4th or 5th

I was catching 1,2,3,4 and 5th when the tranny was off the motor
