Default Did lots of searching and reading, now for an educated question...

I'm about to start my supercharged Prelude summer project as soon as the rest of my pending parts get shipped here and I have a quick question. Here's some background info first:

I have a 97 Prelude Base 5sp. I have a chipped p72 ecu I will be running with a s200 Hondata system and Boomslang conversion harness for fuel management per the supercharger. From reading, I know that this will work fine with my H22a4 motor. However, I'm going to be mating a fully built H22a1 block to the A4 head. With that being said, I also know that there are a couple sensors (CPS, etc.) that are located in different areas on the A1 as opposed to the A4. If I was running my stock ecu, I know this would work fine granted everthing is wired properly. My questions are:

Will I run into any problems by using the p72 ecu since it will be reading those sensors from a new location? Is the p72 designed to pick-up this information the same as my stock ecu would?

Thanks guys!

Here is the deal:
Obd2 preludes have the CKP (crank pos sensor) and the crank fluctuation sensor down at the oil pump, they read off that gear.
Obd1 preludes have those inside the distributor, they read off the exhaust cam.

As long as they plug into the harness, the ecu will get their signals fine.

Your problem will be this, you either need to swap out the gear and all and the sensors from your a4 block onto the a1 block, or you need an obd1 distributor, and then you'll need to run the wires from the oil pump area up to the distributor.

The pinouts for those sensors are in the eg civic/h22 swap thread in the hybrid forum. I had the same problem as you and I ended up just making a little harness to go up there, less than a few hour's work, just get 4 3 foot lengths of wire, a soldering iron, and make sure you have the connectors ready to solder.

If you need more help let me know.

Good info, thanks.

I think since I will have the entire motor out of the car and I will be swapping all the A4 parts onto this new A1 block anyway, I'm just going to swap the gear and sensors as well. It'll be easier that way I think. Thanks again!

There is a writeup with good pictures on doing that in the FAQ somewhere....user "Keith" did it if I remember right, title is something like swapping an obd1 h22 into an obd2 prelude and keeping it obd2

the h22a doesnt have the provisions to bolt the sensors to, they just arnt in the oil pump housing so you need to run a odb2 a4 oil pump-
