My 96 LS has about 300,000km now. over the last month or so ive noticed it has developed a whiney sound, not like a squeeky belt or anything, im not sure how to explain it. Anyone have any ideas as to what this might be?

 

my buddies 96 ls has a whiney noise also, his is actually his power steering pump...

 

I know what you mean. I have a feeling its the alternator, but if it works why fix it?

300k? on the same motor? nice moves. my DA body has 280k on it the b18b thats has a little over 90 now but wow i agree my DA had a whiney noise and my steering fluid was low and it went away when i fixed the leak and filled it. not fixing it might make u have to replace yur PS pump and wutever other ish is attached

 

o lol i didnt notice it was in kilometers i have 280k miles. but my buddy just said when refilling yur PS fluid make sure u have someone turning the wheel with the car running to get it through the system and get the air bubbles out.
