S transport question?
Alright guys, I just finished rebuilding a wrecked 2001 s2000, which I acquired over the winter. It presently has a salvaged title, and I need to get it inspected. The only problem is that I rebuilt the car in Connecticut at my uncle's shop, and I need to register it where I live, in Kentucky. Anyway, I am transporting the car on an open trailer in a few weeks. I have a lot of time invested in the paint and body work on this car, and am not too enthused about subjecting it to the debris I might encounter on my 14 hour trip. I was wondering if anyone out there knew where I might be able to get some of those white plastic (cellophane) sheets that you'll sometimes see on new cars, on those semi-truck car haulers. Or does anyone have a better idea? Thanks in advance, I'll post my photo album when I arrive.
I thought about that, but I am not sure I trust it 1100 miles...plus to get one that's waterproof I'll be out $100+. Now, of course I could use it, but I am planning on keeping my S in the garage, under a dust cover.
If you're looking for the plastic sheeting method, bulk vinyl decals that come in rolls are a good idea as well. I use it at the tracks and it keeps my front end clean. Something like this, I don't know if you could see it, but the headlight and front bumper is covered, minus the grille opening. The BMW/Viper used black, we used white on our GPWs.

i agree. but you dont want to put that plastic crap the new cars come with, it fils on the new cars and is a total biotch to remove the glue residue. (i would know i have to re move it at work

Thanks guys...I think I'll take ohhdang's advice and stay away from the actual new car vinyl wrap, but I'm going to try to find some cheap static vinyl like Mr. Projekt suggests.
The Uhaul was also my origional thought, but Uhaul states that vehicles with tires on them can not be transported in their trailers, and a box truck is out of the question due to height issues. Thanks a ton guys. Feel free to leave me more suggestions, I'll check this forum daily until I leave...next Saturday 5/5.

What do you mean?, those decals don't use a ****-ton of glue like the the vinyl on new cars...so I am going to look ino vinyl rolls, either static held or with very, very light glue.
I problem with the car cover is 1100 miles. How the hell am I going to strap that thing down, and still be able to run 75 mph?
