i had one and loved it alot for what it was. It just wasn't a very versatile bike.
I had alot of mods done to mine, which was nice. rc51.com is a really good forum for RC51s.

Yeah, I've heard of his opinions
I've got:
Micron exhaust
Harris rearsets
Ohlins damper
Pazzo shorties
CF heel guards & fins
Aftermarket turn signals & undertray
That's it so far, trying to save up some money for more serious parts. I just dig this bike, I had a 600RR before this one and I don't intend on getting rid of it. I do miss the smoothness of the inline 4's, but it just adds to the uniqueness of the bike.
Speedzilla & RC51.org are both good sites, it just doesn't hurt to reach out to other places.
I've been trying to post pics, but all I get is that damn red X that mocks me. Damn you red X, damn you......

Where are you pictures hosted?
Nice mods so far.
You should seriously look in to some new gearing for the rc. I had -1/+1 and would have preferred to go another tooth up in the rear on top of that. It really helps make the bike more streetable.

The shop i work at is one of the top sponsors for Speedzilla. He's got a heavily modded 04 and sells a bunch of mods for a good price. He is CBR400RR on Speedzilla and just about anyone there can vouch for him. Hit him up if you have ANY questions.

Every time I see one I want to kick it over out of spite.
That said... *IF* you do not ride every day (work, school, etc) *AND* you are willing to put some $$ into the bike to fix the stock uhm... shortcomings (forks, shock, rear tire, seat, gearing, fuel mapping, among others)... they *CAN* be fantastic machines. And setting off car alarms with your pipes is fun too.
My F4i is a better "everyday" bike, and IMHO its faster in a straight line, more comfortable, easier to ride (in traffic and in the tW1st33z) and alot easier to keep the rear tire hooked up on bumpy surfaces. The RC was more stable while leaned over at high speed though.

CBR's a cool guy, I just picked up a throttle kit from him.
I'm trying to use we-todd-did, any suggestions?
Gearing is one of the things on my list, just haven't gotten to it yet, the impulse buys aren't helping either.
The 600 was cool but it didn't feel right, if that makes any sense. I went to get the oil changed and I ended up leaving with my RC. Man I love the sound!
Your right RJ, it does have a whole lot of things that could be better, but now I just look at it as motivation to get some prettyful parts
. That and the fact my buddies own me on the straightaway's

You can use we-todd-did. I've never used them so i'm not sure exactly how they work. But basically you just copy the URL of the picture you want. Then press the button on honda-tech that looks like a yellow picture of a mountain with a sun. This will throw some text in to your post, just paste the URL in between the two bracketed "IMG"s it throws in. That will show your picture, hopefully.

Spending $2-3k on parts just to get the bike to a point where it doesnt suck and its still slower than a stock 600RR? Blegh. Have fun
At least it sounds nice...

$2-3k?? I'm leaning more towards the $4-5k. Yeah, it might still be slower than that little 'ol RR, but being able to take 'em in the corners, drowning out their soft engines when I pass by, seeing that look on their face like "What the F***!"
I get the cheeziest grin on my face from ear to ear
That red x is still playing with my emotions

4-5k? wtf you pointing on it. I'm doing/have done:
-1f/+1r w/ speedohealer
double bubble
trax pads on tank
exhaust
pc3 usb
free mods
dan kyle suspension link
elka or penske rear shock
scotts damper
brembo radial mc
sato rearsets
that's no where near 4-5k... if I do wheels it's getting me close to 3k I think but **** man...

Dont forget an aftermarket seat, re-work the forks, adjustable clip-ons, adjustable rear-sets... throw on a new set of tires. There's too much crap to "fix" on those bikes.
The seat never really bothered me either. But i felt like having rearsets made a difference with that because my thighs were almost parellel to the ground and i think that helped.
Bars would have been nice but the thing that killed me was vibrations in the bars on the freeway. I would have liked some super heavy bar end weights.

The seat bothered me the first time I rode the bike 500+ miles to get her home but hasn't been an issue since. The pegs and bars don't bother me either - it is what it is.
