Hey guys, I just bought a 1993 cx hatch yesterday! I love it! I have a problem with the radio though. Amazingly it is stock. The problem is that it isn't playing anything. It can't pick up any radio stations and the tape deck wont play anything. I pulled the radio out today to check if anything was noticeably wrong and couldn't find anything. One thing that was weird to me was there was no antenna wire to plug in to the back of the head unit. I was lookin' back there and couldn't find antenna. The harness is completely stock and hasn't been tampered with at all, it just plugs straight into the back of the stock unit. If anyone might have a suggestion I would appreciate it.

Not a bad idea. But if it were blown wouldn't the radio not turn on? My radio still turns on and lights up and searches for stations just with no sound at all.

Blown speakers?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Maybe. That could be it. The only thing is, if they were blown wouldn't they at least make some noise? Like that static sort of dead noise. Still I will go check that. Thanks!

Blown speakers will hum and tick, and fuse would disable the radio all together.
You're going to need a new radio, sorry.

I agree.
Just buy a stock radio off of somebody here for 5 bucks.

Did you check to see if there are speakers installed in the doors or in the rear deck? Are they connected? Maybe the person that sold it just threw them back in and didnt give a hoot if it played or not.
As for the antenna wire.. look around under there.. maybe it was shoved up behind another harness. You can always unscrew the antenna from the car and pull up on it slightly to see if there is movement under the dash.

Not if the cone is trashed altogether. Happened in my girl's SUV. Only sound was coming from the rear speakers.

No, you'll need the pigtail for the JVC harness, and you'll need to splice it into this:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-l...01720

Costs all of $10-15, you can get them at any car audio shop, Circuit City, Best Buy, Good Guys, etc etc etc.
Install is a breeze. You match the red wire to the red wire, the blue wire to the blue wire, etc etc etc. That harness will bridge the gap between your stock harness and your new deck.
I prefer using butt caps instead of butt connectors.
