got a ticket, maybe you guys can help
so i was riding, got pulled over. and my license plate was off. and i got a ticket.
i remember earlier in the day that it sounded like i ran over a piece of metal in my parking lot, but i looked back and figured that it was just some random debris on the ground. told my roommate to inspect it, and it turns out that it's my plate :-(.
question, if i bring the plate, then can i get the ticket off my record?

do you have any pictures of your bike WITH the plate on that might have a date stamp on it from before you got the ticket?? cuz if you bring the plate and the paperwork in, and explain to them that it simply fell off because of a loose bolt but prove that the bike is in fact registered and licensed, i would imagine they'd let you go.

ooooor you could take a picture of your own bike so that the license plates match...

just put the plate back on, go to your main station and ask for an Officer to inspect your bike with the plate on it so you can get it signed off. You still might have to go to court and just pay the court dues though. Good Luck!
Jim you just made my day...got a good laugh out of this one. it does suck but im sure it'll be nothing more than a hassle

You would easily abandon your bike over a four hour ride on an F4i?

naw my roommate will be here so ill just leave it in the parking lot. and im coming back for maybe summer school, and to get ready for training in june anyway. so ill only be gone from it for maybe 2 weeks tops.
yea i just remembered that the cop said if you take this ticket to court, remember this whole incident is on tape and you don't have a license plate on. But then if i bring it and argue that i had no idea then i should be ok.
worst case scenario, if i cant get it thrown out, then will it affect my insurance? itd probably be minimal anyway, but just in case

You are in IL so I will tell you what will happen. It isnt a fix it ticket. You can opt to go to court and they will say ok 75$+ court fees which in IL is 30 I think. Pay the 75$ and let it be. I can almost promise the court will take your money. I get this types of tickets for tinted windows on my car all the time. I pay the money and thats it, doesnt affect anything.
