is a 98 4doors civic sports with b18(i believe) worth of buying? why is it sooo cheap? can it be tun
----can it be tuned nicely?
hope you guys know what i am talking about, i dont know lot about this civic, but the price is really attrictive, something like 1400GBP and most important is its got a b18 **** in it.
so i get confussed why is it so cheap? is it because it is too heavy? or this b18 is different from what i thought? if i am not wrroy, i remember this car pruduce 170bhp on stock tune, so what is the Potential of it? comparing this with a 98 civic vti b16, which one is better on the belance between performence and price?
thanks

It's a trim of the EDM Honda Civic five door, which as stated before, we don't get in the US.

The full engine code will be on the block of the engine. Pop the hood and it should say it on the front of the engine towards the left side. It will be stamped on it.
It could be the stock engine for that car though.
I know at least one Civic five door comes with the B18C4, with 170hp (the five door VTi).
It's probably this price because to the person selling it it is likely little more than a used Civic to them.

What more do you want? We can't answer much without you giving us more info.
You have to realize this is a very obscure car and engine for most Americans.
B18 engines Honda has made:
B18A
B18A1
B18B
B18B1
B18C
B18C1
B18C2
B18C3
B18C4
B18C5
B18C6
B18C7
Oh, and I can tell you the EDM Electronic Parts Catalog only lists a 2.0L for 1998.

First off, that's not a 4-door. That's a 5-door hatch.
And if it has a stock B18C, it's a B18C4. That's the 1.8 VTi engine that comes stock in the Aerodeck 1.8 VTi and the Civic 5-Door 1.8 VTi.
It has the same specs as our B18C1 (Integra GS-R Motor).
If it is truly a "Sport" package 5-door, then it also can't have come with a stock 1.8L motor, only the 1.5 SE and the 1.6 SE came with the Sport and Executive Sport packages.

I just went to autotrader.co.uk to try to find more info (since it was on one of the pics) since you're offering so little information.
I found several five doors for less than half of what the one you pictured is selling for.
And success. Here is the ad for the car this thread is about.
So yes, it's a VTi and yes it has a stock B18C4, the engine Honda put in it.
It was listed for $2,700.74 USD.

hmm well considering usdm is b18c5 is an integra type R if u have a b18c4 is maybe a variation of a gsr it might be pretty good for the price..
btw do u know if u can swap the front end of that car in to a usdm si?

It has tons of potential. It has a fair bit of 'oomph' out of the box, and the transmission is a nice medium between *****-out acceleration (read B16A transmission) and economy freeway gears (read B18B transmission). There's also a massive aftermarket as far as parts go for that engine.
Cams, valves, valve springs, retainers, injectors, headers, intake manifolds, intakes, turbo kits, superchargers, you name it, they have it for the B18C1 (which is the same as the B18C4).

It's basically a 4dr GSR. But it's a civic, which is awesome. It's kind of a rare car I think. But to answer your question there are VERY few motors with more tuning potential. I'd buy it, (but only after inspecting it)

No, they're not rare. They're actually dirt cheap in Europe and the UK. They were a VERY popular model, but were in Europe and the UK only.

This car isn't a four door. And there are already four door GSRs.
And...
"they were never sold in this market" =/= rare
It's never going to be a race car, but of course it's tuneable. Online searches can probably give you a good idea of the weight of the car and such. If not, there's likely a weigh station somewhere in your area.
