How much to add A/C?
Thinking of picking up a 1992 civic hatch DX model with no AC. I need some cold air in the hot summers, so how much would it cost to add one? Honestly...what part of the country can get by without having an AC? It makes sense for track use, but for a daily driver you need it!
A new kit if you can find one will run you about 1K plus the install and charging the system. I don't know if you will even find one. The next place to look would be the junk yard. you will need condenser, evaporator, belt pulley, compresser, cooling fan, ac switch button from the climate control the hard lines and the dryer. there are a few things that I am missing but it gives you an idea. Oh and after 93 all the systems were diff because of the switch from r12. Check ebay also
wow...that sounds very expensive.
I haven't seen it yet, but the owner tells me that the car has heat but no a/c. Maybe they mean that the a/c needs to be recharged? I hope this is the case.
