Default Need Help with 02 EX

I just started having some problems with my 02 Civic Ex ,115k miles, Manual Tranny

On my way to the wash this morning i was stoping for a red light and as i put in the clutch and pressed the brakes instead of going to idle the tach just dropped to 0 and the car died. It just stopped idling. I tried starting it but couldn't without holding the gas down. It started shaking and rattling from the driver side engine bay it got worse and worse then when i got on the highway to get home i could barely get the car up to 55. I had to try and get home without letting off the gas or the car would die. The shaking and knocking noises out of the engine bay follow the revs. I just went out and tried to start it and it starts without giving gas and is now idling but the knocking is still there. I am new to the Civic and would appreciate any help.

just a guess from what i've read on forums relating to our cars, but it could be the Idle Position Sensor.

If it sounds like knocking, it's probably a damaged connecting rod.
