Default help me please

alright heres the situation i bought a 89 dx hatch a couple months back it didnt run. so i sent it to a a mechanic friend of mine and they fixed it or so i thought so i sent it back and they changed the alternator. then it worked then i tried to start it but it was a no go. so i got a new main relay and it worked fine. then about two days later it just started back firing and then it would cut off the i would start it and then backfire and cut off.
does anyone know what the problem could be?

I think most backfiring is caused by a miss fire in your pistons and/or your spark plugs.

so maybe new spark plugs and new spark plug wires?!

do a complete tune up, new rotor and cap, spark plugs, plug wires and give it a shot, it doesnt hurt to do a tune up, hell youll get better gas mileage too.

New distributor or junkyard/rebuilt? OEM or Autzone/Pepboys, etc.? It's not out of the question that the new distributor took a crap on you.

Did it have a warranty? You may want to check if it's bad. Test the wiring and components following a service manual or crack it open and see if things are messed up. In my experience, backfiring is caused by two things: timing being off or and issue with the distributor.
