My 1990 CRX / Ultimate street car build
Well I've been following all of the talented people building cars here and figured I'd add my own.
Car:1990 CRX dx with a B16a swap
Swap was allready complete when I got it. Car is still OBD-0 with the MPFI conversion done. Runs a cable LSD tranny and unknown clutch/flywheel.
Car came with LOTS of small problems when I bought it, but Hey for $700 who cares! The car needs lots of body work, new seals everywhere and the engine problems sorted but I'm getting there.
My plans include getting the car on the road inspected first.
Next, OBD1 conversion with Hondata, and a NA build up. HP goals around 200-225 WHP. Then I'll tackle the body and paint.
I've replaced the LMA's, and resealed the valve cover. Replaced the cam gears, timing belt and timing cover seals. Gone over all of the swap wiring trying to diagnose an idle problem. Going to clean and run diagnostic tests on all of my sensors this week to hopfully fix the idle. Also looking for a rear trunk pan repair panel for the rust hole in my trunk. I'm going junk yard hopping this week! Also going to get misc. parts at the yard. Interior is out getting cleaned. New seats on the way (integra) and I'll begin modifing the brackets this weekend. Hopefully pictures work.

Car came with ultra custom JDM Muffler roof installed. Very Rare!
Thank god I just bought a new Miller welder! I used to restore VW's. I'm used to lots of rust!

I mean ultimate street car for me, not in the world or anything! Just want another fun all around car that can drag, autox and that I can take to the track. Also drive anywhere anytime. I outgrew the whole building cars for other people. Took all the fun out of it. Ultimate Street car to me means the "ultimate" all around car that can smoke a vette or other v8 car and still get 25plus mpg and take your kids to school!

Looks like a real project car there, but still doesn't sound like too bad a buy.
for another Rex owner in the area.
Quick question though, how are you going to get, "200-225 RWHP" off of a CRX?
Before people start flaming me, I interpret that to mean Rear Wheel Horse Power?

Its been done, by inversion and tons of fabbing, but what I'm wondering is about firewall containment, the fuel tank, etc.
Seems like RWHP wasn't what was really meant

And good luck with that. I bet there's much more rust than meets the eye.

Yes I meant Wheel Horse power! Used to my Porsche. Its been a while since I've worked on the honda's LOL.
Went to the junk yard today and picked up a rust free 1989 CRX SI for parts. Car was wrecked in the front but rest of car including the interior is perfect! $100 for the whole thing! I'm going to swap the doors, rear trunk pan and some of the interior from this one but I'll have some nice parts left over if anyone needs anything nice and cheap! I pick it up saturday. I'll post up pictures before I disassemble.

"Id rather fix up the rust free wrecked one than the one in the pics.
Your going to weld anyway whynot? "
Unfourtunatly the wrecked car can not be rebuilt no vin/title. The salvage yard will not do the paper work to get me a salvage title for it- thus the low purchase price. I'm a welder by trade and have fixed MUCH worse rust on some very old very rare aircooled VW's so this is not a big deal. No structural rust so no big deal. I was going to do door skins from honda but will use the doors off the donor car. Also it has nice trim I'm going to use as well. It's a shame to use such a nice car for parts but I'll take OEM metal any way I can. Car was due for the crusher next week
Also picture looks much worse than it is. I cut out the rust close to the factory spot welds in that corner. There were only two small holes and surface rust on that side of the tire well. I will cut out the factory spot welds and small amount of remaining metal and weld the whole rear pan in the same way the factory did. This link shows just about how the floors weld in.

Panel Number 1 is what I'm replacing minus the front section.
