correct offset for 8" wide wheel on 1992 honda civic hatchback, low or zero scrub radius preferred
I am seeking low or zero scrub radius with 8" wide rims as the topic title stated, the application is a 1992 Civic hatch... What offset is ideal? I'm looking at 16x8 rota slips, the offsets available in my 4x100 bolt pattern are +20, +34 and +48. i have a local machine shop that I believe is capable of milling a little off the inside face of the rims to increase offset, I also already have ARP extended studs so spacers are not an issue economically... I'm wide open to suggestions.
(FYI for the rear I already know I will be running +34 due to clearance issues with the trailing arms.)

You will be better off with 16x7 or 16x7.5 wheels for the 205/40-16 size tires you'll need. 16x8 will work but the tires will look stretched.
I'm a difficult child and I want to run 215/45/16 Azenis... Measured on a 7.5" rim it's only .4" larger in diameter than the ever-popular 205/50/15 mounted on the ever-popular 15x6.5" rim... So the 215/45/16 on an 8" rim will be maybe 5mm larger in diameter? Hardly worth writing home about.
Taking into account steering effort at low speed and tire-wear rotation, I believe +34 offset to be ideal for all 4 corners. /thread thanks anyway.

i think a +35, +34 offset should be fine....you may be able to go a little lower on the offset if you do some fender modifications...

The Azenis is available in 205/40-16 and that is the best size. You won't have to worry about rubbing (the 215/45 may rub) and it won't make your car's acceleration slower (the 215/45 will, like getting taller gears for your car). Performance differences are insignificant. The 205/40-16 is also $11 cheaper per tire than the oversized 215/45.

Comparing the wrong 16" size for your car to the wrong 15" size for your car isn't exactly the best argument to make.
