Default Partially dead alarm brain?? Compustar 2W900FM (CM3000)

Ok, I am in no way a professional installer. I just partially installed a Compustar 2W900FM alarm. I didn't install the extras just yet just really the main components. Arm/disarm (lock/unlock), shock sensor, remote pager, antenna and so on. I was planning on finishing up the remote start next weekend.

When i turned it on for the first time, everything functioned as far as locks, parking lights and siren. Then a little while after that, the lock and unlock stopped working. The alarm will still arm and the parking lights will blink but the doors won't do anything.

I checked my connections and they were ok. I used my oem remote and it locks and unlocks fine. Is it possible that the lock/unlock portion of the main alarm module (brain) is dead or shorted somehow?

I'll test around some more tomorrow and maybe try to test set up aux1 to lock or something. In the mean time, if anyone has any ideas or comments please chime in. I apologize if i sound idiotic and "untechnical" Thanks in advance

Use a multimeter to check the output pulse for the lock unlock

Yea, that's part of tomorrow's test. Hopefully it yields an answer.

I was playing with the buttons on the remote a bit. Is there a way i accidently turned off lock/unlock options? Dumb question but i'll check the manual, which is horrific.

Thanks for the reply

I would also check the ground on the alarm brain. If its not right the unit will not send a ground output to lock/unlock the doors.

I had a serious ground on that sucker... but come to think of it, i didnt exactly tighten down the bolt as it was a trial run. I'll give that shot as well.

ok here's a little update.

I've got everything working fine, even remote start up. Lock/Unlock still doesn't work. I will have a multimeter tonight.

I redid the connections this morning just to make sure. I also called Firstech. The guy on the phone suggested using relays because of the signal continuity for my vehicle? Which is a 99 civic btw (kind of forgot to mention that). Anything on that?

Other than that, I'll get the meter readings up after work.

Thanks

The Compustars door lock outputs are 250mA ground pulse, more then enough to trigger the cars door lock system, try this, unplug the door lock output connector from the brain CN4, ground the lock and unlock leads, blue/black and blue [one at a time] if the door locks work then you know the problem is not your connections and must be a problem with the Compustar itself, test the outputs to confirm.
If you got it from an authorized dealer it will have a 1 year manufacturers warranty.
If not, your stuck using an EXT output. [trunk unlock CN4/2 violet/white or AUX 1 CN5/6 yellow or AUX 2 CN5/7 yellow/white] for lock and you can use 2nd pulse unlock, CN4/3 orange/black for unlock, if it still works, and may need programing. 94
