I've never heard of "spec clutch".

However, I'm have the ACT HDSS with the (i think) 12 pound flywheel in my LS and have no problems so far. Also, I know of a few others with ACT in their ITR with no problems either.

Were you beating the crap out of your clutch, because I would think the excedy would hold up for longer than 18k. Did you try talking to excedy about this? Maybe they can do something?

the clutch did not have the crap kicked out of it. there was plenty of meat left on the friction disc. i dont know what to get. i have seen an exedy fail like this before. https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1
it looked just like this one.

we never used a spec clutches in a honda, but we removed several broken spec clutches from nissans, all with the same problems of a failed pressure plate. we had alot of luck with ACT and also competition clutch(http://www.competitionclutch.com/).
the ACT in my turbo(xtreme pressure plate with a unsprung 6 puck) car is over 5 years old and is just now in need of a new pressure plate. im really happy with how long it has lasted with the amount of abuse it took over them years.

Spec Clutch is located in birmingham, AL right down the road from me.

SOme of their clutches are great, but some of them suck. The stage 3 is good but the stage 2 sucks, and usually fails very quickly. One guy around here is maing over 735whp and is using a spec clutch with no problems....

But if anyone is interested i have a Competition Clutch stage 3 i need to sell...The best clutch i have had (ACT extreme is the other one)

I've seen a lot of photos of spectacular failures of Spec clutches. I've also seen Centerforce Dual Frictions wear out in less than 10k miles. I've had really good luck personally with ACT. I have the same clutch/flywheel setup as the LS mentioned above and it's been fine thru years of auto-x and track use. I also have friends who swear by Competetion Clutch. I don't have any experience with Exedy other than using their cheap OEM replacement brand Daikin in my non-race cars and they have always been fine. I'm probably going to be putting one in my Civic soon.
