ILcrxsi1's turbo D build(56k, get some lunch)
I finally get to make my own build thread. This is my first turbo project ever and the first turbo car I've ever owned, so I'm excited as hell. But, because this is the first time I've done this feel free to point it out to me when I'm ******* up. The pics I took today are blurry as hell. I will get more soon though.
I would like to say thanks to the people that have helped my out with this so far:
Rcautoworks, for cutting the hell out of my car to fit in a half size radiator and making my manifold, downpipe, and dumptube.
Autoworks for making my charge pipes and supplying the intercooler
stealthmode for the oil line kit
Dave(suprdave) at the whip factory for tuning
and 90JPRCRX for helping my out with **** and taking pictures
Anyway here is What the car looked like when I got it.

Here is what it looks like now after new paint, a jdm d15b, new suspension, and a shitload of other parts that I don't feel like listing.

First thing I did was put on the cold side pipes and mount up the intercooler.

You can see my half size radiator in this pic. Thanks Rcautoworks

This is how I mounted the intercooler. I basically cut holes in the front of the bumper support and drilled holes in the bottom so that I could put bolts through. Add some washers and you're done. It's pretty ghetto, but it's sturdy. It's also a little off center because I didn't measure very well.

Next I put in the DSM 450's. I don't know if I'm lucky or stupid, but mine went right in without having to open up the holes in the o-rings.

And here is my turbo and manifold, oh wait I'm still waiting for Bob at Rcautowoks to finish the manifold and downpipe

This is the D15b and si trans we are throwing in 90JPRCRX's car

And this is a link to my catch can setup

And yes those are worm style clamps, but they're smooth on the inside so that they don't cut in to the couplers. Since I'm only running a .5 bar spring I think they will be just fine.

either they will or they wont. tbolt clams don't cost too much but you might be ok. also check behind the endtanks and make sure there are not any bolts on the frame that might rub a hole into your FMIC. what i do id put some windoweld on the backs of the end tanks just to make sure they don't hit the fram or rub. looking good so fare. if you engine is out go ahead and paint the engine bay.

Log manifold is done, just need to mock up the downpipe
Looking good so far, car is super clean in person, atleast I thought so.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Lack of a daily driver and garage have stopped me from doing this in the past. I have an 06 scion tc for my daily now and I moved into a house with a garage over the winter. I bought a nice *** air compressor when I moved too. If those things wouldn't have happened, then I wouldn't even be doing this now.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yeah, I know. That charge pipe is solid though and it isn't going anywhere. I think I'm going to add some length to the positive cables though, because right now it has to pass in between the battery and the charge pipes and I don't really like that. I would rather have it come from the right where there is plenty of room.

If anyone in the chicagoland area can tune Hondata and wants to make some extra money let me know. I was going to go to the whip factory, but economically I don't know if that's going to be possible

So it went almost 2 years out in the elements, including snow and ice and all that crap. I didn't prep it myself, but I did pay extra for prep work at maaco.

</TD></TR></TABLE>It was like $1200 for rust repair, prep work, good paint, clear coat, door and hatch jams, and I had a bunch of **** painted off the car too, like mouldings, and a brand new sunroof panel. My panel was rusted pretty bad and I didn't want to replace it with another used one that was probably rusting from the inside out so I bought a brand new one.
