Default How to make Vtec Sound loud on a 95 accord ex

Ok so I have a 95 accord ex I was wondering if there was any mods I can do To make the car sound very distinctive when vtec kick in.....I am going to get a pair of dc headers a new catalyic converter and a 2.5 inch exhaust pipe straight back to the rear end...co cat back .....will that be good enough......my friend has a 93 civic with a d15 turbo and a 2,5 inch exhaust pipe straight back to his exhaust and it sounds really nice.........would it sound identical with the f22 or no.....I just want it to be really loud but not sound gay

Suggestions would be appreciated

are you picking 2.5" piping because your friend has it on his turbo car? I would say that 2.5" is too big for your stock motor. you'll lose backpressure and you'll end up losing more power. A turbo car needs bigger exhaust so the turbo can spool up quickly and get the gases out faster.

He doesnt have the turbo on yet he has all the piping and everything of that sort but it sounds sweet.

SOHC isn't going to sound near as distinctive when VTEC kicks in.

Opening up the intake will do it. The changeover is pretty subtle on a SOHC, so don't make the exhaust too loud or you won't hear the intake. VTEC doesn't change the exhaust pitch nearly as much as the intake pitch.

intake. if yoou want best bang for buck get a ebay intake, ditch the filter, and slap on a quality filter such as K&N.

Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake. Does wonders on my 97 accord. One of the best intakes on the market because of the inner runner in the pipe, its pretty damn loud too. Price is up there but it has been dynoed and proven to be a decent power giver for an intake.

buy a v8.

that said if you put an intake and a DECENT exhaust (magnaflow) on your accord it should sound pretty good. beware crappy ebay mufflers that will make your car sound like a bumblebee.

I would think the only way to make the VTEC or intake sound louder would be to get a cam with a larger more aggressive intake lift/duration and get an oversized valve job done on your intake side of the head...$$$$$

or a short intake!

you need to get a cam with a more agressive VTEC lobe.

Again, x2!

Besides those two things, the only other thing that you could do to be totally hardcore would be to install a bullhorn with a CB mic reciever and strap that onto your intake opening and have your ECU control the button on the CB to turn on at WOT!!! LOL

I think I'm gonna do this one, myself. Sheeeit, I'll even make a kit for those hadcore fools out there. The official "JDM Vtec Enhancement BULLHORN"
