2007 Civic Si seat question ... HELP!
Hi,
After tons of research I've determined that a 2007 Civic Si coupe is the perfect car for myself. There's only one problem ...
I find the seat somewhat uncomfortable, mainly because I feel there's too much of a bulge in the lumbar (lower back) region. I'm concerned that I'll get back pains after driving the car for awhile. Unfortunately, there's no real way to test this theory because test drives are never very long, and there's nowhere to rent the car.
One obvious solution is to just get a new seat, but I don't want to loose or risk the integrity of the side airbag, which I hear helps tremendously with the safety of the car.
So here's my question: Anyone know how hard it would be for an upholstery shop to reduce the cushion size in the lumbar area of the driver's seat??? Is there any way this cushion/padding can be accessed without totally destroying the seat? Will the airbag or sensor be at risk of being damaged in the process?
Any insight would be very much appreciated! If I can figure this out, I'm definitely going to buy this car.
Regards,
Dan

Some guy over on 8th civic had the same problem. I believe he pulled off the cloth and cut/sanded the cushion somehow to make it more comfortable and then had it re-wrapped.
Thanks for the reply!
Does this mean the cushion can be exposed without cutting anything?
Can you find the post you're referring to? That would be a big help.

I'll look but no promises, I remember glimpsing the thread well over a month ago.
But no, I remember him saying he was going to cut away the fabric to expose the cusion and then get it re-upholstered. I just looked at my car and there are no inconspicous seems that I can see that you could cut without looking bad.
Otherwise, I think the seats feel fantastic. The support is a "little" harsh, but it's good when you're cornering for keeping you in the seat.
