new d17 engine and tranny swap
I wouldn't even worry about getting a D17A2, just focus on getting a manual transmission. The conversion is pretty easy, all Hondas come stock predrilled for clutch pedal assemblies...I did my friends CRX in a weekend.

hmmm.... not tryin to be a smartass, but u make it sound much easier than it actually is
i dont have any first hand experience with the swapping a manual tranny into the newer civics....however, i do remember that it can be a PIA to swap a manual tranny into a '95 civic
