Easy access to radio/navigation ID?
Hi,
I bought a 2003 Accord EX w/ Navigation at an auction recently, but the car came with no documents whatsoever. I replaced a headlight, had to disconnect the battery to get to it, and now the navigation system wants a pin or else I cant use the nav or the radio.
The dealer said if I get the ID on the unit, they can look it up, but it's hard to get to and they'll charge me $160 to remove the navigation unit and just find the ID...So, is there an easier way to see that ID w/o removing all kinds of panels and whatnot??
We already looked for a sticker in the glove box and trunk, nothing there.
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Alex

Try removing this upper panel, you might be able to access the code that way. But be careful prying on the soft areas surrounding that panel. They will leave permanent marks.
I know there was a way to get the serial code on the old accords by pressing and holding the 1 and 6 buttons as you turn the key into the "Accessories" position.

Actually, I called Honda Customer Relations, they had me hold down the top part of the seek/skip button and the top part of the change disc button and then turn on the radio. An ID of sorts then shows up that they can use to give you the radio code from that. Took me 5 minutes on the phone, no removal of panels necessary. The navigation code was also given to me based on the S/N off the DVD-Rom in the trunk...
Seems like this is a little known fact, as 3 dealerships that I talked to all told me they would have to remove the panels.
Thanks
