Default Purchasing a Type R motor, have a question

I figured i come ask you guys since il probably get the best answers from you's
Im going to purchase a type r motor from hmotorsonline, but not sure which spec to get. Is it worth it to get the 96-97 spec for 3999$? Or spend the extra 500$ and get the 98+ spec? Are their any major differences? Thanks guys

Most people here spent over $15,000 for theirs, yours sounds like a deal.

mileage will be the only real noteable difference

the difference in the head finish of the ports will be slight, but not that you'll notice

Your real question are the differences between the 96-97 and 98 spec engines. Which has been discussed a lot, so as a hint...search.

in the JDM motor everything is EXACTLY the same in all years apart from the process of machining the valve ports

1. he never mentioned anything about getting a header with the engine
2. there was no difference in cams in the B18C Spec-R engine anywhere except the US
3. he said "motor", not motor and gearbox

3) maybe he's going to use his D16 tranny

if this organisation is NICE enough to supply a manifold with the motor, then you'll get the 98+ spec 4-1 single piece

if you get the 96-97 motor then it will come with the 4-2-1 two piece

both have a 2.5" collector, but the later manifold is all stainless and is designed to give more torque at lower revs

and sicones, he only asked what the differences were between the motors

I would get the 98+. Comes with the 4-1 header and the 4.7 transmission. And the added bonus of being newer.

Another vote for 98+

The 4.7 FD alone is about $350ish and then the header by itself is around the same for a nice one. Then you have the port stuff.

Also, the mileage thing would be another reason I'd go for the 98+
