Caliper Paint
I was planing on painting my calipers, anyone know how to get the rust off them so i can do it? i know there are rust removing solvents out there but im not sure if theyre harmful to the metal.
I would use a stainless wheel to get as much rust out, you could use por then regular paint or permatex makes this rust spray that kills it. Follow that by some primer and what ever color u want and it should hold up well.
Por is good stuff, just pricey and maybe a little overkill for if you just doing calipers.

i just used a steel wheel as well. As for paint, i put 500 degree engine paint on as a base coat(did 2 coats) and then a light gold in the small cans you get at autozone as my top coat. has held up fine so far

You could always buy that kit for $40 designed for this. I used one of those once, it looked like the capilers were powder coated, quality stuff. It comes with cleaning agents as well.

What I did was get the steel brush and just kept buffing away until there was no more rust. It took 6 hours for both sides and my arm hurt like a bitch but it came out so good. Then I painted them with high temp engine enamel, because you need a high temp paint and the rust never came back and I did this almost 2 years ago and it still look good. Good luck.
I think I am going to throw some paint on my calipers
