Well, when I got my bike, I wanted to do everything on a budget. I bought cheap and now I don't feel safe with the gear I bought. I bought a used helmet to save money it was dropped. I bought a textile jacket with no back protector because it was cheap. I learned the hard was not to cheap out on gear, now I have to buy gear again to replace the crappy gear I bought. I just wanted to share

 

Did you go down on that stuff?

Im kinda in the same boat as you. I thought the guy at the shop was just trying to get me to buy their expensive gear and ended up buying what I wanted. Now I wish I spent the extra money when I had it.

exactly! I barely bought my bike a week and half ago. and when I did I did not spare on the protection! alpinestars jacket with back protector, shoei helmet and as gloves, Now all i need are some boots!

Hopefully I get my boots tomorrow

The difference between a used $350 jacket and $200 jacket is not that much. I just saw a Dainese suit sell no ebay for ~465.

The only thing I would recommend buying new is the helmet.

 

iono, i spent 1k on my gear. i think i spent too much, now i kinda regret it

i got the sidi b-2, joe rocket blaster, shoei rf-1000, alpinestars gp-plus, and knee protector + back protector.

i think i could have gotten by with 500 and bought a little less nice stuff.

 

i had a 25k hospital bill, and that was with good gear. i shudder to think whqt it would have been with cheap gear.

But posts like that make me glad I spent money on nice new gear.
