Drag radials, launch rpm
I just picked up a set of 225/50-15 bfg's and was wondering about what rpm people are launching thier radials at before I head out to the track. I have my 2 step set at 8000 right now and was cutting 1.69~ 60ft's on 25.5" slicks, but I am gonna say thats a bit too high for radials.

i would tell you to run 10psi and load it up to 5500ish... but it all depends on your driving tech.
plus heat them up real nice.. BFG's love to be HOT!

haha ok. I was doing pretty good on just piece of sh*t street tires with ~400hp cutting 2.0-2.1 60' but would spin half way down the track so it didnt really matter. but thanks for the input, its not cheap going to the track and starting from scratch tryin to figure it out.

good advice here.
last season i used to run 10 psi and launch at 5ooo rpms, of course after a nice 2nd gear burnout. my radials were only 205's though, making 330whp

Just like the others have said. Good 2nd or 3rd gear burnout, preload, and be ready to feather a little on the throttle or clutch whichever works for you. I would say that 5000 rpms sounds about right for the BFGs. There are a few more guys on here that have did really well with them. Maybe they will chime in with their launch secrets.
ehh, ive cut 1.8 60' on bfgs leaving at like 2500-4500
I cut a few 1.7's around 4000
Its better to pul out slower of bfgs the 60' does not matter... its the 330' that counts

00 civic coupe 530 whp... 9psi. in tires, 2nd gear burnout get em really hot!!! launched at 6400-6700,, 11.03 at 135mph 1.88 60 ft.. you really gotta burn em up and learn to work them tires!!!! good preload and ride the clutch baby!!! its all about seat time!!!
w3rd, the bfg's need some heat to work. my best is a 1.9 on my turbo sohc at 9psi. you just cant beat that for a sub 200hp car, oh and i launch at 5700rpms..
Just like every one is saying, good burnout, preload and between 5000 to 6500 depending on power.
I leave at 6000 at 8psi cutting 1.8 60's in a NA 210whp car. Drag Radials are fun to drive on once you get used to them.

Im about to cut consistant 2.0's with about 19 psi and lots of heat. launch at 5100, going back to try 5252, I think that may net me a little more room on the launch...may be able to get into the 1.9's wouldnt that be nice!!
