Help me get my 99 GS started
Ok, I just got this 1999 GS and I had to replace the steering colum. I did that with no problem, figured everthing out. Then I was going to replace it again with one from a 99 with matching door/trunk lock but this was from an auto instead of a manual transmission like mine. When I did it this time, I didn't disconnect my battery, but I didn't the first time either. Well, when I connected the little wire that goes to the ingition, I heard a sound. Either way, it didn't work and I thought it was because the auto one wouldn't work so put the older one back on, only this this wouldn't work either. I think I blew a fuse and don't know where it is. I don't get anything when I turn the key, I do get acknowledgement that the key is in and the door is ajar, and know I get power cause I can turn on the lights. Other then that, I don't get any warning lights or anything. I checked the fuse box on the bottem and the two under the engine bay, can't find a blown fuse, does anyone know what this might be? please help cause the dealers are of no help
that 100A fuse looks pretty good to me I just double checked it with one of those lights

come on, hasn't had this happen before? Is there a reset switch or something? I am not getting anything at all when I turn the key, but the little sensor is active that shows the key is in the ing, I took the whole colume out again and looked at the wires going into the fuses, I don't see anything loose or anything, someone please help...
Hmmnnn.... You connected a wire, heard a sound (probably a spark or popping sound) and it doesnt work.
You blew something.. I would assume a fuse (still) but you've checked them all. And everything is hooked up correctly...
Unless when you heard that "sound" you friend something in the switch itself? Maybe you need tolook into buying a NEW switch.
A long shot really, I wish I could help more :S
If nothing else man, there's alot of guys who fix cars for a living, take it to a shop.

yea, well, I will need to get it towed there, thats really sucks especiall if its just a fuse. I that sound I thought I heard was the wire for the acknowledgement that the key is in the ing, so don't know if thats what it is now...

There is a 40 Amp (green) Ignition fuse in the box under the hood that can be hard to tell if it is blown. Remove it and use a meter to test continuity. This is most likely your problem.
Hey dlsacker, you are the man, thats it. I don't know how I missed it but I did and you called it on the stop. I gotta say, I'm impressed. That saves me from towing that to the dealer and having them laugh at me and chargeing me an arm and leg for a fuse. So can I go to any auto store and get this replaced or do I need to go to a honda dealer, anyone know?
